The last 2.5 months have been hectic. I learned many new things, and managed to complete many processes related to money, SUCCESSFULLY. So I should be patting my back for being what I used to be 30 odd years ago. It required a lot of surfing, reading, and reading, financial nonsense. It was not a Norman Vincent Peale stuff, which I love reading, or any other inspiring biography. Not even crime thriller. Just plain financial and legal GARBAGE...GIGO. So though I was near my device, and up late in the nights, I couldn't dare to come here, as it would use up my time, and I had deadlines. The work is easing now....I did a few repairs to aunt's building, a bit of sewer cleaning organization, water organization and new tenant organization at my building. Plenty of official letters, and organizing signatures on them. Plenty of information gathering personally by going to Reserve Bank of India, and other offices. Somewhere in between aunt broke her hand, so we had to take her hospital too. Added to that, we are vacating the house she lived in, so selling things in the house and packing and moving the stuff. I think you all are getting the drift. So yeah...not been here much. But I will never leave myLot. It is the only place where I can get mad at something and still be considered sane. Rather, it is the only place that puts up with my idiosyncrasies. Love all myLotters, lock, stock, and barrel. Hugs to everyone.

@vandana7 Very rightly said, ma'm. I think money is the secondary thing here. But yes, everyone wants someone who would listen to them. And this place is surely the one.

You are my best friend online, vanny... I was worried about you since you weren't around but didn't want to contact you through WhatsApp in case something happened with dad that was taking all your time. I'm sorry to hear that Auntie broke her hand and hope she'd doing better and healing nicely. I'm glad things are easing off for you now and hope you don't get busy like that again for a long time. We only tell you we're putting up with you... In secret, we talk bad about you. Love you, Dearheart!

It wont be as bad as it has been so far but the work pressure has not come to a zero. That is a concern somewhat. Next month income tax, then again remittance...there will be constant work.

@vandana7 It's something more than just dry skin. I've been to urgent care, and a doctor, next stop is dermatologist on Tuesday. I will probably be back at doctor's office for him to figure out if my old auto immune disease is back in force or I have a new one and which one and to figure out a plan. Sending you big hugs!!

Rash and itching, can be due to dry skin, which can be managed with moisturizer, and avoiding caffeine. Other reason can be kidney issues. I would first try the moisturizer. Then rush to kidney specialist ASAP. Take care. You helped me reach 5 dollars once by interacting more. I noticed. Just busy in real life from sometime.

The best thing that I felt reading your discussion is that you were busy. And I like being busy all the time. There is always something for me to do and I rarely pass my time without doing anything. Looks like you really had some hectic time in the last 10 weeks or so. As you mentioned, at times reading stuff about finance and economics really really puts me off. I wonder how those people write search insightful articles. One more thing that I likeed about all this what you described, is that it helped you earn some money. That is the best thing to happen. And if the work that we are doing also pays, well nothing like that.

It was not earning money. LOL. It was closing aunty's accounts so that she can move to the US. She is now a green card holder. First I had to convert her accounts to NRO accounts. That requires some time, especially around bank year closing and bank audits. Bankers are either not available on seat, or let other staff who do not know much about it answer your queries, which means doubles your work. Add to that surfing to know how to go about it. LOL Then post office. Their server works for roughly 100 days each year, Sundays and holidays included, if you get what I mean. LOL. Moreover, though RBI requires us to convert the accounts ASAP on living outside for more than 182 days, post office does not have any provision to do so. So shuttling between post office and RBI. Finally approached the main branch, and look who had the answer. The receptionist there. So started closing the accounts. The software is old, and is not equipped to handle accounts conversion. Post office also does not maintain check books. So it takes ages to obtain one. Banks can send the check books to the now US address instead of handing it over to you at the local address. Without consulting you. LOL. And then the mutual fund thing...that still needs to be completed. They have been eternally confused about the transactions. The person doing the job is more focused on selling products that fetch commission than concentrating on the job at hand. Made me travel four times, and the issue is not resolves even now. Will have to go on Tuesday or Wednesday. I am 66 years old, this is my time to do Krishna Rama, not run about like this. And then there was some remittance to do. Remittance means running about to Chartered accountant. He made a few mistakes, then he was out of station, then he returned and again made a few mistakes, then we sorta finalized it, sent to the bank, the bank again raised a few queries, again rectification. All that requires trips to banks and continuous contact with Chartered accountant. Yeah...a hectic stuff, had to complete everything because once she leaves ...it will be expensive to get her signatures. So organizing all that. For guys it seems easy...we cook do laundry and take care of elderly parent before booking a driver. I don't know how to drive anymore. Have problem with my left hand. Even in RBI, few were able to answer questions correctly. I had to go twice....and even the second day, the person who answered was not clear. So I waited till a senior person came to me at guest corner, clarified each and every doubt. And then taking aunt to hospital, and of course, selling things that could be sold, and packing things and shifting them. Tell me, which 66 years old woman does this much...

@vandana7 OMG! That's quite a lot of work to do. I never knew there were so many formalities when it comes to managing documents. Really... Hats off to you! I've seen some senior citizens. And they don't even have commonsense to talk to anyone. Hopeless people I've seen. They haven't grown with their age! There's definitely thumbs down to them!

@vandana7 That's really quite a lot of stuff to do. And at the age that you have mentioned, I have really grown respect for you. Because at this age you are doing all this kind of stuff - physically going around - is something like setting an example for the younger breed. Yes I totally agree with you that at this age one is more focused on spiritual life than on materialistic life. But what I appreciate more about you is that in your earlier reply you had mentioned what all you need it to do for clearing the documentation. But more than that it is the mental strain and the challenge to the patient which is more important and difficult. I am sure I would not be that patient. But when it comes to government documentation clearance, it is a whole another level of headache. And the same is the story I guess all over here. My another reason to grow respect for you is that you are looking after ten strays. I am sure you might be getting a lot of mental satisfaction by looking after them. You are gathering their blessings which is a very good thing and I am sure what all you do makes your day.

1. Resident account you can remit only 250000 USD, NRO account upto 1000000 USD, NRE account any amount this way that way. 2. You need for furnish FATCA application along with other KYC and covering letter and passport copy and NRI status (182 days outside India) proof as well as any bank account abroad, and address abroad for converting account to NRO account. All accounts need to be closed or converted. 3. Trading account has to be opened with Depository to sell all mutual fund units shares etc. 4. You have to fill in forms and take the person in front of post office personnel so that he is confident you are not closing his or her account without his or her permission. This is tedious. 5. Apply for remittance to the bank their application, along with Chartered Accountant certificate Form 15CA and 15CB. Just a few of the things I came to know this last couple of months and completed them. There are many other things like packing things shifting them emptying the house, selling stuff, which are time consuming as well. Finally, aunt had to break her left hand so we had four hospital trips too. You bet the work load was unbelievable. I barely managed.

If I was working at 110 percent, I am at about 40 percent now. This is manageable. That was stressful. It still has not reached zero...but I am hoping it will come to 20 percent by next month ending.
