We Went Grocery Shopping...

I tried to wake Pretty up to go shopping this morning but she just rolled over and went back to sleep... Early this afternoon, I tried to wake her up again. She growled at me and told me to leave her alone...
I heard the alarm go off for her to get up and start doing stuff around the house that she's getting paid to do so I asked if she would get ready and we could go shopping... She said yes. By the time she was ready, it was storming. *sigh*
I took the trash out and waited for her to come out. 15 or 20 minutes later, she was finally ready. (I hate driving in rain. I'm having trouble with my distance vision even wearing my glasses so she had to help me keep watch for other traffic.)
It's still storming but the groceries are put away and we're both dried off again. The Weather Channel claims it will storm all evening/night.
It's 67F/19C right now...
How is the weather where you live?

@DaddyEvil - I know very well how you feel. I have the same problem with my husband. He does not want that I go myself shopping, but he is never ready to go when I ask to go.

Thanks... I usually won't drive in the rain but Pretty won't get up in the morning when it isn't supposed to rain. I should have gone shopping by myself but then she whines and gripes when I do that. Sometimes she makes me very angry.

I hate waiting to go somewhere ...especially when the weather is about to change.
Sorry about your vision..I wouldn't drive now unless I had to.
Weather here is perfect but not for long.

@DaddyEvil No storms to speak of here, but the heat will be intense..for me anyway, I hate it.
I am sorry your eyes swell..allergies is it?
My sons vision is deeply affected now from the sinus trouble..hence the operation is necessary and because of heart.
Yes Pretty wants to sleep

I don't know why Pretty wants to wait until it's dark or nasty out to go somewhere... She's awake in the morning when I take my meds but asleep by the time stores open.
Thanks. It's really annoying that my eyes can be open but everything looks fuzzy. It's easier when my eyes are swollen shut. Pretty doesn't even think about asking me to drive then.
I hope you don't have any bad storms there.

@RebeccasFarm I'm sorry about the heat. I've only been to Denver when it was winter or early spring. (We used to have a house in Fair Play outside of Denver and took vacations in the winter there. We had fun. Even when it was snowing, it felt warm to us and we'd go without coats while our friends who lived there were bundled up like Eskimos.
)
I do have allergies but my eyes are affected by Graves' Disease. It causes them to swell closed or makes my vision blurry. It's a lot of fun.
I'm sorry your son has vision problems bad enough to need surgery. I hope everything goes well for him.

She stays up playing computer games all night and then won't get up in the morning because "she's tired".... Well, I can't see after I take a nap during the daytime so when am I supposed to go shopping? She's being stupid and lazy! It's making me mad!

It began to rain here last night and should last for today and tomorrow at least, maybe Friday, but not sure.
It is a cold rain, the wind is cold outside.
We brought in our tomato and pepper plants and I look outside of the window at the raised planter with the flowers in it and check that they are still surviving.

@DaddyEvil It is pretty windy, I doubt that a sheet or even plastic, would hold in this wind.
They are actually growing, so the weather must agree with them to some extent.

@Juliaacv I would drive stakes around them far enough away that you aren't bothering the roots and tie the cloth or plastic to the stakes so it doesn't damage the plants if the wind gets really going.

You could take a sheet out and cover them if it gets too cold. Good luck with your plants.

we are having off and on rain as well. I prefer to not drive in the rain too. People around here think they can still go 90 in the rain and stop on a dime. I went shopping today too, we were out of a few things, still rand up at $200 ugh, that was only odds and ends.

Hey! Long time, no see! I hope you and your family are all doing well!
I like to do the speed limit even in the rain but slow down if other vehicles are around me. I don't trust them to stay in their lane.
Groceries are getting ridiculous now!

@mom210 Thank you. I'm doing better than I have been in several years now. I'm losing weight and have blood sugar under control now...
You're slower than I am. I've got a great great grand daughter.
Darn kids don't know what causes that.

@DaddyEvil this is my wind down time of the year so thought I'd poke my head in and see what you all were up to. I am doing great, I'm a grandma X2 now so feeling kinda old, but feeling better than I have in years. Kinda decided to put myself as a priority and take better care of my health. Got my blood pressure and blood sugar more under control now with diet and exercise. hope you are doing well too.

It is stressful for me. I wouldn't have done it if we weren't out of two of my important meds. Grocery shopping was just a bonus.

@sallypup I think scarier for me than for other drivers. I can still stay in my own lane as long as there's no snow/ice on the ground.
One of the things that Graves' Disease does is heighten anxiety, even when it's well-controlled.
I can still see road signs but have to ask Pretty to read them to me if they aren't a distinctive shape. I use GPS on her phone since I can't read street names when we go to Springfield or Joplin.

@DaddyEvil Scary driving. My Dad admitted he couldn't see road signs anymore and quit driving. He was only 67 when he passed- addicted to smoking.

I'm sorry tornadoes are touching down there. I just checked and, while the tornado watch is in effect until 9 pm, there haven't been any sighted yet.
I hope they stay well away from both of us.

@DaddyEvil I think the worst is past for us. I just turned to the alarmist weather guy, and he’s not on. That has to mean no more tornado possibilities. I mean that guy gets his high on any whiff of tornadoes. This afternoon he was telling everyone to take cover. I’m not even kidding.

@AmbiePam I was just looking out my bedroom window. Lightning is coming close together and almost above our house. Winds here are strong at 30 mph right now.
The Weather Channel claims the storms will stop around 10 pm but will start back up again after midnight.

It sprinkled most of the day here but started storming a little after 5 pm. The Weather Channel claims the storms will be ending around 10 pm but will start back up after midnight. We're under a tornado watch and a flood watch.
I hope things don't get bad in your area.

The worst ones are the light switches, those really sting.
I'll pray you won't get any tornadoes and only a wee drizzle for a short while, I understand you get a ton more rain than we do.

I'd be willing to share the rain if you'd take the tornadoes that are coming along with it. (We're under a tornado watch and a flood watch right now. I'd rather neither happened, though.)
Pretty hates it when it's dry here because I shock her from several inches away if she reaches past me for something.
Then she gets mad if I start laughing.

My mother wants us to go grocery shopping Saturday instead of Sunday. I also needed to go pick up my prep for the colonoscopy. My mother wanted to sleep instead. But we did get to go. Yesterday it was cloudy.

I hope everything goes well for your colonoscopy. I hated doing that. Doesn't your doctor tell you that you can poop in a box and mail it to them now? That's what my doctor has wanted me to do the last three times.
I hope the rain passes you by unless your area needs rain.

I hope all the bad storms are missing your area.
We have trees all around the back of our house/to the East of our house. The morning sun doesn't bother us at all but when the sun starts going down, the sun hits the West side of the house and it can get really hot in here. We turn the air on in the afternoon.

@lovebuglena I'd install a window air unit up there, then. I can't stand sleeping if the house is hot. We had that problem at our last house. Whoever installed the central air there did something wrong. My bedroom was always stifling until I put in the window air conditioner. Then I kept that room around 69F and was comfortable. (Pretty claimed I was trying to make a fridge out of my bedroom but I just wanted to be comfortable.)

@DaddyEvil no had storms here. When it’s very hot outside the third floor of our house is unbearable. Central AC doesn’t help much up there. And that’s where our master bath and bedroom are.

Sounds like quite a day on your end! Hopefully the weather settles down soon and gives you a break. Stormy days can really throw off the rhythm.
It’s been lightly raining here on and off all day—just short drizzles, nothing heavy. Funny thing is, it actually feels even hotter! The ground barely gets wet, so the heat just kind of rises back up. It dries so fast, you’d think it didn’t rain at all. Our major grocery run isn’t until the first week of June, so we’re done for May. Just quick trips to the nearby store now if we run out of anything.

I was exhausted by the time the day was finished. I fell asleep right after I ate (about 6 pm) and slept until almost 1 am.
I live in the middle of the US and we have another string of storms sweeping across the US, bringing heavy rain, floods and potentially, tornadoes. I wish it was done but it's not. It's still sprinkling now... The Weather Channel shows that we may have two days without rain and then we start another run of storms.

@Shivram59 I like the light showers we get that last an hour and then are gone. They don't cool the air but it's nice hearing the rain. The big storms cool the air really fast. (The storm we had yesterday dropped the temp really fast and it stayed chilly for the rest of the day.

Thanks. It stormed here during the night but I hear lawn mowers going this morning... Some people don't care about their machines, I guess.
