Sad surprise

We went to the cemetery today to visit my husband’s grandfather’s grave. I think May 30th or 31st was three years since his passing. On our way from the cemetery my eyes came upon a headstone with a familiar picture. I came out of the car to take a closer look. Turns out it was a picture of our wedding singer on that headstone. Seems he was 61 when he passed away. What a sad surprise.

Dying at 61 is too young.

@Ineeddentures Hubby’s grandma will be 90 this year and his grandpa is 99. That’s impressive. Never seen his grandpa but his grandma looks way younger than her age. The one we went to visit is not his biological grandpa. It’s Grandma’s second husband.

It’s a small world as they say. Never expected to see his headstone there.

I too have been surprised and sad when I came to know someone I was close with had passed away. Yes, a few are too young to die.

So true. Since he was a wedding singer (his second job; his main one was a programmmer I believe) his family put some lyrics on his headstone. And musical notes underneath. I think it was part of the chorus of “What a Wonderful World.”

I didn’t really know him personally but he was a nice person the few times I met him before the wedding.

That would have been a surprise. 61 is very young nowadays.

Yep, it is. Don’t remember the year he passed away but I think it was 2021 maybe. Last post on his FB page was in 2021.
