Do you ever wonder why some people do such violent things to hurt children?

I've been at the hospital all day, with my son, conferring with doctors, etc. In between it all, he mostly rested and I watched some TV and read a book. Not an exciting day by any means, but an extremely full one.
There was an extremely violent incident in my town today, about a mile from my home, next to a big sports complex that was, of course, in full swing today and filled with parents and children. A mother took her 8 year old to the complex, it's my understanding they were going to play on the splashpads. Mom's boyfriend showed up and threatened the Mom...and the 8 year old stepped in front of her, to defend his Mom. So the boyfriend stabbed the child, who had to be life flighted out for emergency treatment.
Some things I simply don't understand, and I guess I never will. What kind of person can murder a baby, or stab a small child? What could they have done to generate so much anger in another person? Is their mind completely unhinged? Do they even have a heart at all? Is it only anger and aggression that's in play here, or does it go deeper than that?
It all just made me so sad. All those kids out there at the sports complex at the time it happened...seeing another child get stabbed. What does that do to them, too?
We need a better world, friends. Less hate and anger...and more answers to all of this violence and hate.

This type of behavior saddens me so much. To know that it happens is bad enough.

This is sad !! I could only assume either parents are frustrated and they have problem with themselves and took out all frustration and anger on their child

@MarieCoyle I agree with you !! Children are purely innocent... most of the time they seek attention and their actions are always from pure heart...
As for me .. If I have bad mood I always try to stay away, I am not married but I am surrounded by nephew and nieces..

I just hurt so much when I hear these horrific stories. You are right, this is not acceptable or OK.

I cannot judge her, as I am not acquainted with her. She is a local person, this was in our news. And I feel she needs some counseling as well, allowing herself and her young child to be with this man.

They said today it appeared he will recover. The man is in the county jail, I have to hope from there his next stop is a state prison. And I agree, the mom should have made better choices!

@MarieCoyle Some of the things that are done to children can hardly be talked about. Those people have to have mental challenges.

Regardless of how horrible a lot of these crimes I hear about actually are, I find myself still wondering just how anyone can be that evil and cruel.

Some people can't control themselves. They were never taught. I am sad to hear of this man being this way to a small child. Men have weird ideas. I hope he is institutionalized.

@MarieCoyle -Sadly, most of the time, those doctors who should be there to understand that there is a problem and to help them totally ignore the symptoms. Those aggressive people need to be cure and not to be among the others, because they may be very dangerous.

I often wonder why some people do the things they do to others. It makes no sense, and often, the signs they needed help were there all along, and no one tried to help them. I am not saying he shouldn't be punished or treated, but he needs to be removed from his access to others for now.

I always remember that one lady, Andrea Yates from years ago, in Texas. She and her husband were following a cult type of religion. She slowly did go crazy and get depressed, her husband kept her constantly pregnant. Doctors told her, no more children...they had family helping Andrea with the 5 children because her depression was so terrible. She managed to get some time alone with her children and drowned them all, one by one in the bathtub. She was declared insane...it was terrible.

@MarieCoyle They actually have special areas for people that have done things to kids. That is why I hope he is put into the general areas. Those guys usually don't agree with harming a kid

They had a follow up on the guy that stabbed the child tonight. Age 25, had several arrests and such for aggravated battery in recent years. In 2022 he was sentenced to three years in prison for yet another battery charge and had only been out for a short time. Obviously he doesn’t need to be out in the real world, ever.

A child is likely to be killed by an adult since a child is likely not be to fight back due to lack of size and being innocent at their age.

That is one of the worst things I have ever heard, No one should ever take anything out especially violently against a child, I hope that idiot goes to jail,
