Do you have thoughts about Trump's and Musk's apparent divorce?

American politics are odd right now. It was inevitable that Trump and Musk would eventually hit a "crossroads." It appears to be happening now. Musk isn't calling the shots in the White House any more, and (assuming it's not all AI) has recently been criticizing Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill." Do you have thoughts on what will happen next? I'll link the piece I just watched. It's a decent summary.

@LadyDuck I don't mean to blab on about "my work," but my working hypothesis is that many Autistic kids are uniquely suited toward learning music. But I think the earlier they are exposed to music the better, as with any language.

I do not see Elon Musk as someone I would want to interact with right now. But the irony is that I am fascinated by (musically and mathematically) intelligent kids on the Autism spectrum at this time. Trump is another matter. He has nothing to show for his Golden Spoon. A truly pathetic man.

I will say I believe musk wanted to save money. He just went about it wrong. And the budget bill spends lots of money

@TheHorse I haven't either but I think he did want to. And he isn't afraid to call this bill out for that.

@TheHorse Pretty cat would be better at business than Rump
I just read a story saying Rump is threatening to take musk's business grants away because Musk doesn't agree with the big beautiful bill

I was going to say something similar to Fiacre, the clash of the big egos.

'Odd' is a nice way of putting it. I think that Musk got what he wanted and has no power over Trump anymore. Some people still have some humanity in them. Some can only take so much of Trump before they get fed up. And, there are still others that feel they are too aloft to put up with Trump and his tantrums. After awhile it gets old.

@TheHorse ........That's for sure. He has made his bed, and now he must lie in it. Aging factors are things we must all deal with, no matter what else we are doing in our lives. He never was one with a lot upstairs anyway, so losing some of it is nothing major.

@celticeagle He has always been a bottom feeder. I just want the US and the world to be (relatively) safe again.

Not at all. Contrary to popular belief, conservatives think for themselves. We are not sheep. We have our own thoughts, our own ideas, we agree to disagree when necessary and thoughtfully agree where it is appropriate to do so.
Elon has concerns over the spending bill. I have concerns over the spending bill. And many Republicans inside and outside of Congress have concerns about the spending bill.
We're not the Democrat party who willingly accept bad policy just to win without considering the consequences.
It's not a breakup or a divorce. It's a difference of opinion and nothing more.

Jim, This is the ghost of your High School debate teacher, Mrs. Wormwood. You undermine the credibility of your arguments when you make broad generalizations like "Conservatives think for themselves." Some Conservatives think for themselves. Some do not. Some Liberals think for themselves. Same do not. The same is true of self-proclaimed Moderates.
That said, I agree that many are struggling with this Big Bill. We'll see what happens. We'll also see if Trump and Musk become besties again, or whether they start "cutting each other down" in public. (poof)

Yes
I do have thoughts about it
I don't think it is a divorce
Wasn't Musk only allowed to work for a certain number of days
130 I think out of 365.

@lovebuglena Do you think Trump and Musk will wind up sending insults to each other? I know such things are supposed to be "beneath" American political figures. But I would not put it past them. We live in odd times.

I think it's an act otherwise Trump would be bashing Musk just like he is bashing Rand Paul and Thomas Massey who have said they are against the big beautiful bill.

@TheHorse Literally an hour after I posted my idea to you, X and the Internet exploded. Did you see it? Elon tweeted that the reason the Epstein Files haven't been released is because Trump's name is on it. When I first saw it, I literally laughed out loud

@LeaPea2417 I don't think I've seen this yet. But we already knew Trump's name was all over the Epstein files, didn't we?
