This Mom is taking a little break.

My son has been in the hospital since Sunday, and I don’t think he will be getting out until possibly Monday. It’s 12 miles to the hospital from my house, and 12 miles back, so I am trying to just make one trip per day. Last night and tonight I just drove the additional 15 minutes to my daughter’s house and she and son in law fed me. They offered, I said yes. Soon I will head back to the hospital and then home again after that. Tomorrow, it looks like I will do it all over again. I know, my life isn’t exciting. I am not on a fun trip or sightseeing or anything adventurous. Well, it IS an adventure to get in and out of the parking tower by the hospital, but I live dangerously!!

@MarieCoyle It is the relaxation that your body and mind need that usually comes with sleep.

@Juliaacv It certainly is. And I think when I am stressed I get tired easily.

I am very glad you were able to drive the extra miles so you could eat with family without having to cook for yourself. I’m relieved they are keeping him that long. Maybe they’ll get real answers. I really hope you get some solid sleep.

My daughter and son in law are wonderful to me, and I am extremely fortunate that they are home this week from helping his parents. Thank you, Amber.

When I drive to Marion, it is the same as your 12 miles, and on to Hillsboro is about the other 15, but I do not have a child in the hospital, or someone who wants to see me and feed me in Hillsboro. Hillsboro is where Jane and I often meet. It is exhausting for you to make even that one trip daily. Hang in there, you are a good mom

@MarieCoyle This Marion is in Kansas. It amazes me how many of my myLot friends live in Marion. . .Ohio, or other Marions. I identify with the grind of even that short distance on a daily basis for you to see your son in the hospital and then your daughter at home. Once is not bad, but daily is very wearing for you.

I’ve been to Marion many times, of course, living in Illinois. It’s not a bad drive except a lot of traffic! Thank you.

@GardenGerty I am thankful that there are two good hospitals close. Where I lived previously, there was just a tiny one and they were limited in what they could treat there. So anyone as sick as he is would have been taken either here where we are now, or Springfield, or possibly Evansville to the south. So at least we live here and are avoiding all of that.

You are a very devoted and loving mother! I hope and pray your son gets stronger and better in the hospital and you can catch up on your sleep. I know how that goes though, you probably worry not know what is going on. Sending you big hugs! X 2!!

@kareng I do worry, I think most mothers would. And he worries about me, and sometimes tells me to go home and rest...sometimes I do, sometimes I wait a bit until he is settled. Thank you, Karen.

@MarieCoyle - They do the same here, they drive like crazy in those parking garages.

@LadyDuck There are constant crashes in there it seems. I heard from a nurse friend who works at that hospital, she warned me a long time ago and said most of the accidents were in the late afternoon and early evening. So I am just vigilant all the time.

You are a great mom and all moms know that comes first. The people that do not know that I feel sad for. Great moms will destroy the world for their kids. How it should be.

Oh, honey…I don’t know if I am any better of a mom than the average mommy, but I will have to say the kids are my pride and joy in life. That are all sweet to their old mom, and I know not all mom’s are that fortunate. Thank you.

Me, too! I may go to the poorhouse with the prices of the fees for parking, very frustrating. And the free parking is several blocks away, I can’t really do that unless I either get really lucky and would get out of here to go home and it wasn’t late. Late isn’t safe…so I park in the tower and pay for it. Not what I want to do, but hey, I need to be here.

@JudyEv It's a neat trick at times to get a parking place in one of the towers at all. But I did it every day...I hung in there and got lucky! Yes, he is very appreciative of my support, he worries about me as well.
