First, I have to thank everyone for their concern on my discussion last evening when I said I got a little overheated while out. It’s finally getting, hot, and I have to remember how to act in heat! It’s been awhile. Now, for today’s moon song, I hope you were waiting for this one.
Moonshadow - Cat Stevens
But of course! Can’t have the moon without this one.
When I was young I thought this was a gross song. Who wanted to think about losing their legs? Now I see the positive look this song took at the possibilities of calamity.
Cat Stevens said he was inspired to write this after being someplace dark (as opposed to in the city, where you can’t tell the difference between the moon and street lights) and noticing that the full moon caused him to see his shadow. Common with the sun, unique with the moon.
Enjoy this folk/rock classic.

A good enough song by a good enough singer.
I wouldn't want to lose my.legs.
I think that if I had a choice of live but lose my legs, or die,
I would choose to die.
I couldn't see me coping with everything involved with losing my legs.

My neighbor across the street is missing a leg. He has a prosthetic one.

@Ineeddentures — he lost it in a motorcycle accident. I don’t know how many years ago. He moved in with his 85-year-old mother to take care of her (and try to keep her out of trouble
).

I ran the air conditioning in the car all day today. I never used it (didn’t even HAVE it for a number of years) when I was younger.

I really enjoyed this song! His voice is almost hypnotic. I think that instead of looking at it literally, we could go at it symbolically. I think that he was looking at the subject and trying to not take advantage of things in his life. It was definitely a great listen!

It has strange lyrics, that’s for sure. I know Cat Stevens had a major health scare, so it probably made him question his life. I remember him converting to Islam, changing his name, and being considered a terrorist threat!
He played Glastonbury a couple of years ago, and was excellent. Moonshadow was part of his set.

You know how converts are. He blamed it on that. I was so happy when he was inducted into the Hall of Fame. I feel his conversion kept him out for so many years.
