California is on fire. My report from the field this morning.

I saw on FOX this morning that California is "on fire." I think Trump's 27-year-old Press Secretary said it. So I thought I'd do my own reporting from the field and share my findings here.
I drove from my house to Safeway for some very light grocery shopping. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, a metro area with several million people around me. As a "white" person, I am a "minority." But I just carry on and try to "get 'er done."
I drove on a major road to Safeway. I did not see any protesters, rioters, or police. I did not see any fires.
In Safeway, I grabbed my three items, and headed to the one check out line that was open. A lady in front of me had about 50 items. I stood behind her in silence with my three items.
She said, "Oh, go in front of me. My cupboard is bare."
I said, referring to the lady bagging, "She's my 'girlfriend.' She'll take me over there." I pointed to the computerized check-out, where she sometimes helps me manually.
My "girlfriend" said "I got ya, Honey."
But then we realized it would be easier if I just jumped in line in front of the lady with 50 items. I said, "I'll take you up on your offer."
We laughed and engaged in some friendly banter while the person in front of us paid with a credit card.
I bought my three items after exchanging my usual friendly greeting with the Asian lady behind the counter. I think she is Filipino.
As I left, I said, "Thanks!" to the lady who had let me in front of her. Then I said "Don't eat it all in one sitting!"
"Oh, we won't! I promise!"
Friendly laughter all around.
I drove home.
I am sorry this was not a very exciting report from the field. Maybe I'll write about the airplane crash in India later. But I was not there. So my reporting cannot be as accurate.

@LindaOHio Zappa wrote funny (and edgy, for the time) lyrics. We "rebellious" teenagers gobbled it up.

It's the one who does not dye her roots as dark as many of those around Trump. It's a fashion trend I do not understand. I had not realized she spews rubbish about the UK in particular. But most of what I hear her spew is rubbish.

@Ineeddentures Trump's only successful business venture may have been in TV. It is said that his Reality Show made him half-a-billion dollars.

Sometimes News make us believe something when that is not the truth.
Media needs to be more responsible but they could be under pressure as well.
I too sometimes talk with people when being in a queue in a grocery store.
When I just read the headline "California is on fire..." I thought that you are talking about the wildfire.
Have a nice Sunday ahead !

I'm glad you had a friendly chat with several ladies while braving the wilds of California, pony! I can't believe you didn't see all the police everywhere and the rioting going on there! How did you miss it?
Why does everything have to be blown out of proportion?

I had heard that the problems were being blown out of proportion. Good to know that there are still kind, polite, friendly people that we deal with every day.

Busted again! Why did you have to call me out? Actually, I drove through a sea of Mexicans, demanding I hire them for roofing or horse feeding jobs. Then I was mugged by ten swarthy black men. But they wouldn't take credit card. Once at Safeway, the woman there refused to serve me, saying I was a "white male racist sexist pig and avowed heterosexual." What's a fella to do? But don't tell anyone.
