They Were Just Sort of Meh

Have you ever had a sudden, deep craving for something, and then you eat it and find yourself not all that impressed with it? "Well, that wasn't the excitement I thought I'd get out of it." That happened to me last night when the package of chewy chocolate chip cookies I bought was opened and I mowed down five of them, fully expecting to be elated and euphoric, especially considering I have not had a chocolate chip cookie in ages. It was just okay. Nothing to write home about. "Meh," kind of comes to mind. I'll not waste what's in the package of course, but they may last considerably longer than I thought they would, and I probably won't buy them again.

That can definitely happen... But I'm sorry it happened in that case. Pretty started buying the "home baked" chocolate chip cookies from the Walmart bakery and we both love them... You might give them a try... They're more expensive than I'd like them to be but we don't buy them often so it's okay.

@Marilynda1225 I didn't know it but Pretty bought a pack of them yesterday... and then gave me two of them this morning.

Those Walmart 'home baked" chocolate chip cookies are good! I usually buy them when I know I'm having company or the grandkids are going to be around. I don't buy them too often cause I'd eat them all myself

As cheap as I am, I don't mind paying a little more for something if they are good and worth the price.

It happens, I almost never buy frozen French fries, I did, I put in a very hot oven (as per the instructions on the bag), they were not crispy, tasteless.

Frozen fries are hard to get right unless you fry them in oil. I still buy them from time to time, but they never turn out as good as I'd like them to be, and I usually don't want to mess with the frying of them.

@porwest - If you do not fry them they are not good. I even tried an air fryer and they came out horrible.

@LadyDuck Air fryers are overrated anyway. At least I think so.

I've tried some of the frozen ones and I have to admit, they aren't bad at all. I hardly ever get cookies, though.

Yup that's happened to me too. Dying for something and then it turns out to be disappointing.

Where’s the picture of the cookies? I wanna see them. Oh wait! You did share a pic of the package in your other discussion. I prefer when chocolate chip cookies are chewy as opposed to crunchy. Sucks yours weren’t good.

Yeah. This was the chewy variety. Not as good as I remembered them to be, unfortunately.

This happens to me quite often than not these days because stuff simply is not as good as it was in years and decades gone by. The 60,s and 70,ss were the best and since then it's been a decline and it's not nice.

Or our taste buds just change. I remember when I was a kid I used to love corn dogs. Now I can't stand them.

@Ineeddentures On some things, sure. But I used to hate Brussels sprouts and now I love them, and I don't think they did anything to Brussels sprouts. lol

I can't remember. But I have a habit of trying (not craving) something new and if I like it I stick to that "brand". When it comes to cookies I like DANISH BUTTERED (I'M NOT A CHOCOLATE LOVER) COOKIES IN CAN.

@porwest Many years ago I ate a whole package of chocolate chip cookies. I was very sick afterwards. I learned a hard lesson.

@LindaOHio I have done something similar a few times in my life. Never a good thing. I remember once, when I worked at a company called Quad Graphics, in the lunchroom you could order food by the pound. I REALLY like sausage links slathered with syrup and so I ordered a bunch of them and mowed down. I felt very ill after that. lol
