There are still good people out there.

When I do my morning political reading, and when red light runners barely miss me, I become a grumpy old man and think that "the world is going to hell in a hand basket," whatever a hand basket is. But after my post about the Coupon Lady, two straight "older people" with lots of items have let me in front of them at the grocery store. In both cases, I accepted their offers, and enjoyed some brief conversation with the kind people. Do you ever think "the world is going to hell"? Can a kind act give a you a few minutes of relief?

@TheHorse .........I doubt he will ever do any time. I hope Carroll keeps on gouging him for every penny she can. I also hope that, at some point, he is made to pay all he owes.

I feel we're already in hell. And, every so often we see a break in the clouds.

What makes you say we're already in Hell? I see both good and bad stuff out there.

@TheHorse I think it's more a matter of perspective. I see both good and bad, but I am dealing with a lot more bad then good.

I meet kind people all the time and try to appreciate them while they're helping me and make sure they know I appreciate their kindness.

That really resonates. I honestly believe there are still so many kind and thoughtful people in the world—it’s just that they tend to move quietly, doing good in ways that don’t always make headlines or social feeds. They’re not always in the spotlight because they don’t seek it. The ones who make the most noise often dominate what we see and hear each day, but that doesn’t mean they reflect the majority. Those everyday kindnesses—the people who hold the door, offer a smile, or let you go ahead in line—are reminders that goodness is all around us. It’s just a little more subtle, and sometimes, that makes it all the more meaningful.

I'd like to know the origin in that phrase too. Maybe I'll look it up. I see kind acts quite often which give me a bit of hope for the future.
