I need to take my own advice.

I am always saying ''slow and steady, wins the race''...and I know that's true, at least in my case. If we pace ourselves, it seems that ultimately, our energy lasts longer.
Yesterday was so hot I couldn't stand to be out--we went one place, to son's appointment and that was it. Came right back home. He doesn't do well in this heat, either. After we got home, I dove right in, finishing up the dinner I was cooking, cleaning, and moving some items to clean. I have been trying to catch up, when he was in the hospital, I just did the basics, as I just wasn't home hardly at all.
So, of course I overdid it. Somehow, I managed to twist my ankle/lower leg and it decided to swell up my ankle and HURT. I finally had to give up and rest, but it wasn't very good rest as it just hurt, and I overdid it all and got too tired. I finally did sleep, it felt so good.
Yes, my AC was on. My message with this post, with the crazy and terrible heat wave and going in and out, don't overdo it! That heat takes the starch out of people, and zaps your energy!

@MarieCoyle You are so lucky to remember both grandmothers.
I remember both of mine, but one of them was forgetful with dementia, and I do not ever remember her being 'right' although she was sweet, she did not talk alot as she was aware that she was failing.

I will be OK, but thank you so much.
My grandmothers both said the taking the starch out of people thing, I guess it stuck in my head!

We don't use AC as we are out a lot. That makes it feel even worse when you do go out.
Hope the ankle is better now

Not yet, but it will be better, thank you.
It's hard to sleep when it's hot in the house, for me. When it's cold, I can pile on blankets and use my electric blanket, too. But when it's hot, it's just hot!

It can be really hard to sleep when it's hot and sticky outside.

I'm sorry you injured your ankle/lower leg. I find that if I twist and move a certain way that my knee pops and oucie!! I hope your pain subsides very soon.
Now tomorrow take it easy. No extras. One day at a time. Slowly. You will get there, not as fast --but safely!

I'm not moving fast, but the main thing is, I'm moving! Tomorrow is appointments, so I can't stay home all day and run around cleaning. I will try to behave, at least until I get home!

Yes, indeed. Sorry to hear you hurt yourself.
I think everyone understands about just doing the basics. If your heart is in the right place, which I know it is, then what you do and are able to accomplish is enough. Believe that.

The ankle swelled up but it's feeling better. I kept it elevated some today when I had the chance. Thank you!
Yes, I have to at least do the basics. You know all about that...there are things that you just need to do every day. Thank you for your kind words.

You don’t want me to come over there and kick your butt, do you?

They say the first heat wave of the year if the worst because our bodies aren’t used to the heat, so we’ll get exhausted quicker. Not that I’ll be relishing a heat wave in August…
I gave the guy who did my A/C checkup two bottles of Gatorade (well, the Walmart knockoff) to make sure he was okay. Additionally, he sat in my house and we talked for about 15 minutes (he’s a Navy vet, too) after he was done so he could “cool down.”

In all honesty, my butt probably needs a swift kick...but I will attempt to reform to avoid that! This heat wave has smacked hard here, hasn't it? So, so hot, it's unbearable to be in the sun. I will always say it, Fall is my favorite time and I always look forward to it! But you are always welcome anytime to stop and visit! (Billy's still has the warrant out, but you can wear a disguise!)
I do the same with our maintenance guy, he comes in so hot in the summers or frozen in the winters, I always offer a cold or hot drink, whichever he needs. It's just too hot to be outside in the daytime in this heat wave.

Oh I agree and it is too easy to hurt yourself. The storms rolling through all the time do not help either. I hope your ankle is better now.

It's the leg with the major neuropathy, and I often seem to hurt it because it's partly (or mostly) numb. My own fault. Thank you.

My doctor appointment was early enough for the heat to be slightly oppressive, but not awful. Fortunately, the pharmacy wasn’t busy either. Now, you couldn’t pay me to get out.
Hopefully, some time with the air conditioner and rest will help you recover faster. I know you are always a busy bee.

I am glad you are inside now where it's cooler, Amber. I know the heat affects you terribly.
Yes, I am busy, but I know others are as well. This heat wave just has a tendency to completely zap the energy!

I hope your ankle is feeling better. The knee I hurt a few weeks ago still feels a bit weird..but it says online it could have created new right skin.. As long as the feeling eventually goes away I won't worry about it. The knee is perfectly functional.

I will be fine.
I hope your knee doesn't hurt anymore. When our feet and/or legs hurt, we just hurt all over.

Trust me, living in Florida, if you know, you know. I do my outdoor work in the evening or morning. Even in winter.

Depending on the time I have and the weather, but if I have to work outside, it's generally in the evening. I've spent plenty of time in Florida over the years, I know how horribly hot the weather there gets. It's hard to be outside.

The pool sounds nice, but it's too hot here to go to the pool, haha!

I just keep pounding on my keyboard with the AC blowing behind me and the fan in front of me,
