Claire is starting to worry me

I got back from the pool about 15 minutes ago and she is still under the couch. She is actually up IN the underside of the couch. She moved over to the other side so I know she is still alive but I've never seen a cat take such a long time to start acting semi-normal after being spayed. I thought maybe she would come out when I was at the pool, the TV was off, and everything was quiet but nope. I'm giving her a few more hours before I flip the couch to get her out. I haven't even seen her incision yet. She hasn't eaten in almost 48 hours. She hasn't moved to use the litter box. This isn't normal.

Oh boy. Maybe she does need to be seen. Keep us up to date as your time allows. Bless her heart.

@Ineeddentures I worry about Kitty when she slips into the closet for too long.

Now you're scaring me, I hope everything will be all right. I hope not but be prepared to grab her and head back to the vets. Two more things one call the vet and two maybe don't wait a few more hours to check,

I'd call the Vet and speak with them. If possible, check out her incision. She should at least be drinking water.

If she isn't eating or drinking anything, especially not drinking, go ahead and take her. If you have an emergency vet, it might be more effective to use one, depending on whether or not the vet you used for her surgery tries to brush you off. YOU know your cat, and no, this behavior isn't normal.

It is not normal If she still has not used the litter box by late afternoon Go and arrange for someone to look at her When our cats were spayed they were quite normal when they got home. That's all I have to go on.

I would be worried too. I am guessing she feels traumatized but it could be more than that.

No, not normal and very worrisome. I hope that you can coax her out one way or another. Maybe they gave her more than her fair share of pain killers before you picked her up.

I would take her in to see a vet, too. This is worrying behavior from her. I really hope she's okay.

Oh no NJ. I hope Claire is okay. You might have to take her to the vet just in case.

I read further on that she's acting more normal. I was glad to hear that.
