BQ Today and Family Day!

We have been gone all day today to spend time with family on our annual family day. We met at one of my cousin's houses, in Louisiana. They also have a pool and this keeps the kids and older ones entertained for the day. We BQ'ed burgers, hot dogs, and sausage and had a slew of other food also. I was to bring a dessert today. I made a special trip to Aldi's yesterday to get a pie and a cake. And guess what? Both of us forgot about the desserts this morning and forgot to put them in the car!! So no big deal. We had plenty without them. It was a fun day and the kids had a great time swimming today. We had a short rain shower, but it didn't last long and the swimming continued. Do you have a family reunion or special day to get together every year? Photo Credit: Pixabay, Public Domain

We used to have a get-together for the Fourth of July when I was a kid, because my grandparents’ wedding anniversary was July 3. Glad you had a great time!

So now you have a spare cake and pie at home? We have two family reunions a year but I don't go to either one of them...

Yes! LOL! I may see if I can freeze the apple pie, but I'm sure my hubby will beat me to it and eat a slice with his coffee in the morning. That's okay too. I'm so tired right now, that he could eat the whole pie and I wouldn't care!

That sounds good and probably happens more than once a year that way. We were talking about doing things more often, which would make it easier on all those that are still working to schedule.

@kareng Yeah. I mean, my sister and BIL, where my mother happens to live as well (she's living with my sister) is only a couple of miles away. Dad's about three hours away, but we meet halfway at a campsite an hour and a half away often—in fact, we're meeting up this weekend.

I do!! Just what I needed after all the steroids and gaining a few pounds from the 8-9 week long Rash!!! So I am keeping that in moderation and with this heat not wanting much to eat! 102 with heat factor this afternoon.

I did! It was rather cool with storms in the area, but nothing big hit close to us. So with the fans under the pergola, we were good!

We don't have a special family day. It's a huge family on both sides and people are scattered over the country and different continents. But then when we have some special occasions and celebrations like wedding and anniversary celebrations, most of us make it. Sometimes trips of few families together happen. Good that there was enough without the forgotten desserts.

@arunima25 Just about everyone took food home with them. We didn't because we wanted to stop and eat along the way home since it was getting dark and past dinner time vs. fixing food when we got home.

@kareng Hmm...that is bound to happen as family grows in size, people move out seeking better opportunities for education, job etc. I hope that those leftovers are not wasted. One can always carry them back home with them.
