A 'Me' Day

Today I took as a 'me' day.
I slept in a later than I normally do, and I lazed over my coffee, without having to rush to shower and dress. After seeing my husband out the door, then I showered and dressed.
I will be aging later on this month, and as a result, I have received a few emails to shops that I frequent offering me 20% off and deals like that.
I headed out to the first shop to treat myself to something new. After that purchase it was a bit of a drive to the other shopping centre that I wanted to go to.
Nothing really commanded my attention at that shop, nor the first one for that matter. It is in between seasons-they have the summer clothing reduced and the autumn items, although very eye-catching, just are not something that are on my mind just yet.
The best was the shopping that I did after leaving that centre. I had no coupons or discounts to cash in on. I stopped at Indigo-Chapters.
The twins really enjoy the Spot (lift the flap) story books. Willow has two of them memorized, one was Daddy's book from over 30 years ago. I bought them another Spot book. I also found a really interesting lift the flap book-minus Spot, all about the human body. You can lift different bones and muscles to see what lies beneath it. I picked up a 5 Little Monkeys book-because they love them too, and an interesting book about the shortest girl in the smallest classroom. Harper is a very small girl and I want them both to be aware of how to handle delicate situations that may arise when they are out of our, and their parent's eyes-at school.
I sent my son a text warning him that I had been to the book store, and that he will need to clear some time tomorrow night, after I give the books to them, for reading to them, and answering questions that may arise.

These last two weeks have left me exhausted but I can't let on.
Yvonne has enough to worry about.

Thanks, it has been such a decadent day.
It looks hot and muggy outside, and I have to change and head across town to a doctor's appointment in a few minutes-and just remember how great the rest of my day has been.
I can't wait to read the books with the girls tomorrow when I see them.

It sounds like you had an enjoyable "me" day
Those books sound so interesting and I'm sure the girls will love them. I'm an avid reader and think it started from my early childhood.

I do not remember 'starting' to read for pleasure, as I began so young too.
I remember when I was in grade school, grades 6 to 8, being the only child allowed into the living room in the evenings. That was the room for company, but my Dad would go in there during the winter months, when he wasn't farming, to read in peace and quiet. I was allowed to join him and neither of us made a sound other than that of the pages turning.

@Juliaacv That's a really great memory of spending some quaility quiet time with your dad as your each read your books. My mom was a stickler for making us read but she never liked reading herself.
Go figure

We gotta take these days every so often, just to keep our sanity.
Enjoy the rest of the day today.
I trust that the anatomy book passes your teacher's recommendation for answering 3-year old's question without hearing why why why half a dozen times after an explanation.

Sounds like it was a me and thinking of others day …..the books sound great ….i like Spot, but a teacher I used to work with hated him with a passion and refused to have any Spot books in her classroom.
