Liberal Kansas has added a new attraction in the area of its visitor center. It is a new slipper slide, that is actually a slipper. Liberal has a number of attractions tied to the movie the Wizard of Oz and through a tourism grant has just added this ruby slipper. I have never been to Liberal, but I might have to go, just to see this.

248 miles each way. Or about 4 1/2 hours of driving. If we were to go we would plan some other activities along the way and make an overnighter of it.

@Ineeddentures Everything is a bit of a drive here. We would not do well without cars.

@GardenGerty It's a fair drive right enough An overnighter would be good.

My first notion about slippers are flat. But this one is in contrast and unique.

I do not think the ones in the movie had this kind of heel, but it is needed to make the slope.

How cute! I wonder if kids even know what the slipper is from. The movie seems so old and few seem to know it. I wonder.

In Kansas the kids know the movie and so do the adults. We have lots of collectibles and T shirts etc. promoting OZ and Dorothy.

Oh, my! That's one ugly slide! I wonder why they didn't make it pretty, at least?

It does not seem too bad to me. I doubt that it will keep its white steps and pretty red for long due to weather and heavy use.

@GardenGerty It looks like one of those plastic shoes that are only meant to last one summer before you throw it away. I'm sure the sun will fade the red, at least... And the mud from kids' shoes will take care of the steps.

What a great attraction this would be. Very creative thinking on behalf of the designers.

I think so. I have seen lots of interesting things at parks over the years and rest areas. Someone or several someones have creative minds.

Can you imagine a "train" of four or five kids in a photo on it?
