I watched the movie "Fail Safe" for the 3rd or 4th time last night. Every time I watch it, it gives me chills.
"Fail Safe" is a 1964 cold war thriller based on a novel of the same name. The film was shot in stark black and white with no music score. It was nominated at the 1966 BAFTA Awards for the United Nations Award category.
Peter Fonda stars convincingly as the US President. Other stars you may recognize are Walter Matthau, Larry Hagman and Dom DeLuise.
A computer error causes a US bomber group to receive orders to make a nuclear attack on Moscow. The Soviets have a jam on our radio communications; and initial attempts to reach the planes fail. What happens next will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. If you watch the movie, be sure to watch it to the very end. The last scene will give you goosebumps.
I highly recommend this movie and the book.

I probably saw that movie way back when but really don't remember it very well. Certainly sounds like a movie and book I would enjoy.

I may or may not have seen this movie. The premise sounds awfully familiar though. If I have seen it, it's been many, many years, but what a star studded cast. Even if I have seen this, it is something, that now that you have mentioned it, I will probably go looking for and have another look.
Unfortunately, if it's going to cost a PPV fee, I won't watch it. Terrible that we've come to a point where we have all this streaming but still have to pay extra for anything actually worth watching. It should all be part of the package.

With my favorite actors like Peter Fonda, Walter Mathau and Larry Hagman are starring for sure it is a good movie. Is it available in Netflix?
