Remember the fear that everyone had that their computers would not seamlessly change from 1999 to 2000? As it turned out, there was little cause for concern. On a personal note, my computer and camera changed to 2000 without a hitch. The highest grossing film for 2000 was Mission Impossible 2. It was also the year that the Spice Girls disbanded. The biggest hit single was Madonna's "Music" and the best-selling album was NSYNC's No Strings Attached. The world's first mass market electronic book is released -- Stephen King's Riding the Bullet. The first season of Survivor aired with Richard Hatch as the first winner of $1 million. Charles M. Schultz, the creator of Peanuts, passes away. Peanuts first appeared in 1950. That was a panic fest that I thought would never happen again and then we had covid. History, as they say, often repeats itself, and people can be quite gullible.

I remember my parents rolling their eyes about the Y2K fear. And since they weren’t worried, I didn’t get worried. “Peanuts” was great.

I remember the fear of everything going wrong at midnight of December 31st, 1999. Nothing happened, our computers suffered no glitches.

Yes, they had us convinced the world was going to turn upside down when Y2J hit. It was crazy.

The Y2K was a big deal blown out of proportion big time. I knew one college professor who was completely convinced that it would hit hard and he bought several thousands of dollars worth of batteries, filled two rooms with foodstuffs, etc. Another family really got scared and bought a buggy and two horses, massive amounts of fuel, gallons of extra gas, it went on and on. I always wondered if they ever managed to use all that stuff.
