Happy Monday Everyone! partly cloudy, hot and humid with thunderstorms this afternoon. Looking at the week ahead there isn't a day that doesn't show pop up storms. It certainly seems as if this spring and summer have been extra rainy.
The weekend came and went in the blink of an eye. Lately they seem to be going by faster than ever.
My daughter always gets up earlier than I do so the coffee is always ready when I make my way downstairs. Yesterday morning there was a big commotion that woke me up.
I know I've mentioned our dog is old (15 yrs) and she's having mobility issues. She can't do the stairs anymore so my daughter carries her up to go to bed at night and down when they get up in the morning.
Yesterday the dog didn't wait for my daughter to pick her up and wound up falling down the stairs. Thankfully she's ok and today she's fine but boy that was scary.
The whole day both of us kept watching the dog to see if she was limping or if she was sleeping too long, etc.
Needless to say, we didn't get much done
Today life is back to normal. My daughter is at work, the dog is snoring next to me and I'm having my coffee without any drama.
Pets can really give us anxiety

@Marilynda1225 Nico is often doing something objectionable, however, he probably feels the same way about me, in fact there is no probably about it.
We need couples counseling..

Oh what a shame for the poor old doggie
It's really a bit sad when they get old
I would have been watching her all day as well
Glad to hear that she is ok
Pets gave me more anxiety than my kids did.
Does that sound bad?

If it was not so sad and hazardous for the dog, it would have made me laugh. Just the way you said it in such a matter-of-fact way. Do you need to put a baby gate at the top for the dog to be safe? You would feel so bad if she was seriously hurt.

That's just the thiing... we do have a baby gate at the top of the stairs and when my daughter moved it the dog decided not to wait and well, you know the rest

That was enough drama to start the day. I'm just so glad she didn't get seriously hurt or break a leg, hip etc.

She seems fine but she certainly scared the heck out of us.
I am just glad she didn't break her leg, hip or head. Certainly not the way i wanted to wake up

How sad. I am sorry to hear of your dog following down the stairs. After I left my ex our dog fell down the stairs. We had him put to sleep and we took up to a favorite camping ground to bury him where he had had some happy times. It is sad but that is what life gives us to deal with.

It is very sad when you have to put a pet to sleep. I was so relieved that our dog didn't get hurt and that being the end result.

Try thinking of yesterday like this... Watching the dog WAS your job yesterday to make sure she was okay. Nothing else mattered as much...

So sorry to hear about the dogs fall. Pleased she seems to be okay though. They are such a worry when they get older as their quality of life changes so much. I remember when our Westie had to be carried up and down stairs …he hated it ….you could tell by the look on his face ….he was used to being so active.
Hope that today is a better day for you all.

That's funny that you mentioned the look on your dogs face. Mine has the same look when she needs to be carried up and down.
