Well, I just scheduled a bone density exam

I have never had one before. I am expecting that mine will be OK, as I don't have the risk factors like low body weight, or lack of Vitamin D or calcium. However, one never knows until they do it. I could be wrong. Have you ever taken a bone density test?

I had my first one in my late 30's, because I had a few factors which lead my doctor to believe that I may have osteoporosis. And he was right. I have had them at least every other year since I was probably 50 years old. I hope that your results are good.

@snowy22315 I had several strikes against me when I had my first one done. I was under weight, Caucasian (which was a driving factor) a smoker and on a medication which depleted the calcium in my body. My hardest part of dealing with osteo was getting a regular and natural source of vitamin D, which allows the calcium to be absorbed.

I have never had one before, and I’m not really sure when we’re supposed to. Hmmm.

You definitely should get one I think with all your orthopedic problems. It is usually recommended for post menopausal women, but I think you probably have risk factors. Personally, I would discuss it with my doc ASAP.

No, I haven't... But I was told to take a Vitamin D supplement since I'm supposed to avoid direct sunlight now. I hope your test comes out fine.

Twice. It's a problem for me because I have to lie flat on my back. I had osteoporosis the first time and osteopenia this last time. Good luck.

You might not need it yet. It is generally for older people unless you have risk factors.

Yes, I've had a couple. No pain, similar to a CT scan. I do take meds for osteoporosis, though. Hope you'll get a good report.

I haven’t. You’re right, even without the risk factors, it’s always good to check and be sure. I really hope everything turns out perfectly for you.

I had one about 4 years ago. It showed osteoporosis as was expected. I take extra vitamins as recommended and try very hard to eat as healthy as I can.

Sorry to hear that. Have you lost any height? They say that is INE of the symptoms.

@snowy22315 Surprisingly, no I haven't. I've always been rather short, so maybe I have lost a bit of height and haven't noticed yet.
