I did not realize how cute what my student said was until my co-worker commented on it.

I was pretty much exhausted by the time Lela showed up. She was my last student.
We decided to work on scales. She is 7-years-old.
We started with D (two sharps) and made our way through A (three sharps) and even E (four sharps).
Each time we did a new scale, I had her play "Mary Had a Little Lamb" in that key. I wanted her to understand that scales form the basis for all of the melodies that we love.
She seemed delighted.
At the end of our lesson, she told her father, "Daddy, I love practicing scales. Come listen."
He listened to her play "Mary Had a Little Lamb" in E-major (four sharps)
I didn't realize how hilarious what she had said was until one of my fellow instructors said, "Did that child just say 'Daddy, I love practicing scales'?"
Buwaahaahaa!

I hope "Daddy" was truly appreciative of her lively interest. I hope she goes far.

And that's hilarious because most kids don't like practicing scales?
