This Was a Good Experience

We had our first dragon fruit the other day. It was in the food box that my daughter gets each month. She gets it from a nearby church, and they sure give us a lot of good stuff. The fruit had a flavor that reminded me of kiwi. Sort of a mix between pineapple and kiwi. I like both of those, so it was a good one.
I am always a little reluctant to try new stuff but being a foodie, I must try each and every thing I come across. This was a good experience. Being late in the summer it was ripe and sweet.

Yes, indeed. Any fruit like pineapple is okay in my book.

It wasn't a real strong flavor. But it was okay.

We were given a lovely fruit basket for a gift from a friend a few months ago. It had two dragon fruits in it, along with many other selections....son was anxious to try them, and afterwards said he liked mangoes and kiwi better. They were good but not phenomenal...maybe it was just the time of year, who knows.

Kiwi has a more definite flavor. The dragon fruit was rather bland.

Btw, which dragonfruit have you tried? The one with red or white flesh?

I have never tried one, the price in the stores bothers me, but I should do it at least once.

I just tried a bite by itself. Not bad. I don't think I'd pay outrageous prices for it, but it was nice to try it.

I’ve only had it in a mixed fruit salad, but I did enjoy it!

That's an idea. When I make fruit salads I am always trying to decide which fruits to use.
