I’ve had quite a time lately

My summer was good and I was to busy to be here. But the past week has been a challenge. On Friday my son became covered in hives. He had a hot dog from the football game and two pieces of bacon from dinner. The hives lasted until Tuesday. They looked horrible and were very itchy. The first night he took benedryl but after that since he wasn’t going into anaphylactic shock he refused any more Benadryl. I got a nail in my tire Monday night that thankfully my husband was able to patch for me. We have been having issues for months with the well and then yesterday while we had no water it was raining hard and the roof started leaking in our kitchen. It was a bit much to handle at once. Today was my little ones first day of pre-k which she absolutely loved. It was my son’s first day of his senior year. Im an emotional mess. Tomorrow is my birthday not a milestone one or anything but I sure which school hadn’t started until the 23rd so I could have had my kids home with me. Photo is mine

I was just thinking about you and wondering if I should text and find out how you're all doing! I'm glad you had time to come to myLot. I'm sorry you were so busy this summer and hope the well and the roof can be fixed/figured out quickly. Happy birthday! It's always hard when kids are old enough to start doing things without us... And your son is a Senior? Wow! He's growing up fast! If you all lived closer, I would give him an epi-pen to get rid of the hives. I wonder what was in the hotdog that caused them? I've missed visiting with you.

@daddyevil I always wonder when I’m gone from here if people ever notice. Thanks for noticing and you can text me anytime. I was busy all summer in good ways. Taking my little one to do a ton of fun stuff. 20 different ice cream shops, play dates, geocaching meet ups etc. He wouldn’t have taken it. I offered to take him to the doctor but he wouldn’t go and wouldn’t take anything. Thank god the hives are gone that’s one less thing keeping me awake.

@DaddyEvil I think it’s a different brand of bacon but I’m more inclined to think it was the hot dog. Could have been something in the hot dog or bun or something sprayed on the grill to clean it beforehand etc who knows.

@shaggin I promise, we notice when you aren't around for a while. You're very welcome. (I always worry that I'll bother people if I text them. ) Oh, all that sounds like you and your little one had an amazing summer! I'm always glad I have the epi-pens. They stop the itching right away and speed up the healing of hives. I'm glad he's doing okay now. (If your son normally eats bacon at home, then it would have to be something in the hotdogs he ate at the football game that caused them. I hope he doesn't eat those again.)

A very Happy birthday to you. I'm sorry you're not feeling very upbeat at the moment but it's really good that your little girl loves pre-k. The opposite would be much worse.

@Judyev oh yes you are so right! I am so thankful she loves it. A boy for our playdates is having a hard time. I had the bus driver let them sit together Friday when he was crying. Tomororw he is coming over before school to get on the bus here with my little one. I think it will make him less scared and my daughter will be excited.

@JudyEv he’s doing great now thankfully my little one is the one having trouble now. Regression and being scared of the bathroom so she keeps having accidents. Today is the last day of the week thankfully then I’m going to try hard getting her to use public bathrooms around town etc to try to get her used go going more in different places. She was crying she didn’t want to go today and I have to carry her on the bus and set her in and walk away while they strapped her in. Praying the rest of the day goes better for her.

@snowy22315 the hives went away after about 4 days I think. The well issue has been put on hold he doesn’t think fixing it properly right now is a priority. He’s wrong but he does have a lot of other things to take care of around here like fixing the roof. My daughter had a hard time for awhile because she’s afraid of the automatic flusher at school so she won’t use the bathroom. She’s gotten better at holding it so she hasn’t had any accidents in a few days so her confidence is building and she’s enjoying pre-k again.

@celticeagle it was such a relief. She keeps having accidents though and no longer wants to go to school because she doesn’t want to use the bathroom. It’s been a rough week. Thankfully it’s the end of the school week so I can work with her all weekend and hope she will do better going back on Tuesday.

@celticeagle I showed her again how to cover the automatic flusher so it won’t flush until she is ready. I’m hoping she’ll give in and try at school soon. I was in the middle of baking muffins for our play date and had to shut the oven off to go change her it ruined the first batch.

@shaggin .........Oh, that is so sad. To not to want to use the bathroom. I hope that can be addressed. It could lead to some very embarrassing situations. Poor kid! Hope Tuesday is better.

@MarieCoyle so nice people noticed I was away. We keep so busy having fun over the summer I just never get time to pop in here. Now I’m catching up on all the things I can while she’s at school and have to start babysitting my great nephew soon so I still haven’t had much time to be here.

@shaggin I have days I can't be here, either. But it's OK, I just come when I have time to. It's a bit hit and miss, but hey...that's just how life is.

Happy Birthday. You will long remember this week, the back to school and the birthday. I remember being an emotional mess on the day that my son began JK, and as special as a time that it was in his life, I remember it in my heart differently, as only a parent can.

Yes, there are many emotions to handle all at once and all different at the same time, but try to focus on what is going to happen and not on what already happened. Tomorrow will be a new day and yes, it is an important event. It's your birthday and even if no one celebrates it, you should celebrate it. You should feel special on your day. You should allow yourself to be happy. My birthday was on August 16th, nothing normal happened but I gave myself my present because my children are very young, my best friend also gave me a cake Having the cake was something I wasn't going to tell anyone about because I didn't give myself my own cakes. However, she wanted that day to be special even though I wanted to make it a normal day.Believe me, that day taught me a life lesson. I learned to love myself, to value myself, and to understand that I also deserve a special day.

@YuleimaVzla focusing on the future means spending a hundreds of dollars on shingles for the roof but thankfully my husband got the old shingles and rot off and covered it with a tar paper that will hold up until he decides what kind of shingles he wants. He doesn’t seem inclined to fix the issues with the well so that causes a lot of anxiety for the future when I’m already having issues getting all the laundry and showers done when we have to wait for the pump to catch up. Happy belated birthday I’m glad it was a nice one for you
