Happy Saturday

We got up early today. My husband had one mission in mind and he was determined to make it happen. Last weekend I mentioned going to the Golden Corral for breakfast and we did not get up in time to make the breakfast seating. So he woke me up around 8 am and asked me if I wanted to go there for breakfast. I kind of groaned and rolled over. Ha! After a few minutes I decided that I could get up and go enjoy a nice breakfast. The thought of several cups of hot coffee and a nice omelet did the trick! It turned out that the omelets were pretty gross and I ended up leaving it after a few mortified bites. They cook your omelet after you choose what you want in it and you can watch and wait for it or get a plate and put other things on it that you want. I opted for some fresh fruit and came back to wait on my omelet. When the lady first started my omelet she put a lot of butter into the pan and and then the eggs. She then tossed in my selected toppings on top and shredded cheese. Sounds good right? Wrong! When I got back to our table the omelet had drippings oozing out of it. I decided to give it a try and took a bite. It had no taste to me. I had bacon, onions, and one other ingredient that I don't even remember in it. After a couple of bites of what seems like uncooked eggs, I gave up and just left it. I was also unable to eat their grits. I added salt and butter to them and still a flavor that did not resemble what it should be. They tasted like cardboard. My husband was in carb heaven with French Toast that looked good and pancakes I should of tried the French Toast. The sticky buns were good, but too sweet for my taste. I ended up with hash browns, fresh fruit--the pineapple was very fresh and yummy, a couple of slices of bacon and a piece of link sausage, with a biscuit. All in all it was a nice change getting up early on a Saturday and heading out of the house for breakfast. I'm not sure how soon it will be that we go back though. You win some and you lose some! I used to have one just a few miles from here...but they stopped serving breakfast...then they restarted again, and their menu was totally different..just like stuff they would have at Mcdonalds or something...not thrilled.

Coincidentally, today I was also talking about McDonald's. I don't know why I'm demonizing it so much, haha, but it's not that great.

@YuleimaVzla And that makes me wonder if it really was that good when it first started out or are we just imagining that?? I do know that Big Macs used to be a lot bigger and tastier!!

I've eaten at Golden Corral several times but only got the buffet. It was always delicious! Sorry you had a bad experience there.

The breakfast is also a buffet there. We go there for lunch often and everything is good. They really need to fix a few things on the breakfast line though!

@DaddyEvil I haven't seen any courtesy cards at this location. I am submitting a complaint online though that goes directly to that location.

@kareng Did you use one of their "courtesy cards" and make a complaint? They need to know customers are seeing a problem before they can fix it.

Was that a Golden Corral? I have noticed different prices at different locations that we have gone to. We get coupons here for free drinks often. Also, the senior buffet gives you free drinks and a reduced price. If you join their club, you get $5 off after so many points.

I think they quit making the pancakes before I got any today. I could have handled those! And it is pretty hard to screw up pancakes!!!

I am sorry you had a bad breakfast experience. The only place where we go is a cafe at a walking distance from home. No buffet, we usually have cappuccino a slice of cake or pie or a croissant. We have not the habit to American breakfast.

Fresh danish, pastry and a cup of coffee is my kind of breakfast! The sticky buns they had here were just too sweet. I shared one with hubby. Otherwise it would have gone to waste.

First of all, I'm sorry that it wasn't a pleasant Saturday breakfast. Sometimes it happens, and unfortunately, we go out to eat to enjoy a different or better culinary experience. That's when it turns out that the experience is negative to the point that you question yourself if you would have rather prepared breakfast at home. I dislike it a little when I go to a restaurant And these things happen. Better luck next time.

@Shivram59 Right that is the common thing for people not working or retired. Those working grab breakfast on the way to work mainly at fast food places. I think the business comes from people traveling here for breakfast business.

We rarely go out for breakfast, but we do have a couple of places we like that serve breakfast all day, and usually that's what I get. We go to Denny's and Bob Evans. I used to like Golden Corral when they first opened up, but over the years the place really went to hell, so we never eat there anymore. And how the heck does one ruin an omelet? lol

We are just so limited in having places to go, that there isn't much choice. We will be traveling to see my husband's brother soon and I will enjoy hitting some places that we are lacking in! Easy when you fill a pan with watered down butter and then put eggs on top of it. They can't really cook with all the watered down additions. I had to laugh at the tips that a couple of people left the lady cooking at that station. She didn't pick them up the whole time we were there. I don't know if she thought that would impress people or what. LOL.

Golden Corral doesn't impress me. Most of the food is...blah? It's not always very clean, and people grab tons of food they taste, but don't eat--they leave it and get some more to do the same with. I guess I just really don't like buffets. I do way better when my food is served to me on a plate, somehow.

If ours was like that I would not be eating there. This one is one of the best places to eat in the city. It's always clean and the waitresses for the most part are wonderful and friendly. I see them helping elderly people all the time fixing plates for them.

@MarieCoyle Yes, very! Most of the people working there are Christians and it really shows. The lady at the register asked me if I was felling okay one day and I told her not really. She asked what was wrong and then took my hand and my husbands hand for a quick prayer of healing. We always see a lot of the same local people there on each visit. It's like a "homey" place where everyone cares.

We are actually going out for breakfast in a little while today. We rarely eat out, but today we will. My husband is trying his hardest to get me to relax since I am on vacay. Then I will do a load of darks later on today, and try not to do alot else, since I tend to take a little bit more time to wind down then I should.

I'm sorry you were disappointed in your breakfast. I've never gotten up and gone out for breakfast. I always wanted to try Golden Corral; but they are about an hour away. My husband used to stop there on his way back from shows at the airport.
