Love takes some effort

A disclaimer: I'm too often guilty of this myself. Not so long ago if we really cared that you were sick or we just wanted to see you, we'd go for a visit. Nothing like a hug to show our love in person. But if we couldn't, whether you lived a thousand miles away or just down the road, a phone call was the next best thing. We can often tell by the sound of someone's voice how they really are. And if we were just too busy to call, a card was of course enough. And very thoughtful. But cards take a lot of effort. You have to go to a store, pick one out, buy a stamp, write two lines that express your love, then mail it....So if a card is just not doable, you can always send an email. That's easier, but you still have to be sure you have their email address (if they have one), then type a message and send it. Now, an email does take a few seconds, so if you're really too busy, just send a text. And if that's too much effort, a lovely little GIF is the ultimate show of love and concern. Prayers to God are of course the best, but not the only way to show we care. True love takes effort. God help us all.

And now with AI trying to take over it is really scary! Your post is so true. So many are lost in today's world that they are missing out on the best part of Life!! And yes, we are all guilty!

Pretty soon even if we get an actual in person visit, who knows if it's a real human or not. Thanks for your comment.

It's good to hear their voices, isn't it?

I still send cards for all occasions -- Birthday, Anniversary, Sympathy, Christmas, Thank You.. Most people I know do not. Things have changed so much. How are you and Dale doing?

Dale has a lot of leg pain, but gets an injection every few months. My back is pretty bad some days, but I couldn't get a back surgeon appointment until the end of October. How are you these days?

@1creekgirl I'm sorry to hear about you and Dale. The end of October is a long time to wait. I am hanging in there. I talk to my husband every day --- I change from telling him that I love and miss him...then some days I chastise him for his betrayal...but every day I still cry when I talk to him. Hopefully it will get better.

Life can be busy and chaotic at times, and it is easy to lose ourselves in it and forget the little things that really are the big things. A small gesture may seem small, but it's one the biggest things in our lives.

As I was reading through it, I had a feeling of sadness coming over. So much is lost in this fast paced digital life. Nothing is as precious as the physical presence of your loved ones around.

@1creekgirl . I wish that sometimes thr old slow paced life could come back. We really need it to find back the soul connection in all relationships.

There are lots of ways to show you care, but you are right some take effort and the other person has to be open to whaterver you are trying to do.

I never liked to call people a lot, but I used to visit and send cards. Now I use the e-mail, I can send photos with the text and I receive often photos. This is a wonderful way to keep in touch.

I pray twice a day in the morning to thank God for another day and in the evening it is the God's prayer. I finished reading the sermons and they inspired me to take the Bible I have in Latvian and read it, I have read the Bible in English many times and certain verses and such but I have never done it in Latvian, When my late husband and I once read Bible passages I read in English and he looked along in Latvian, Now I will pick up the BIble in Latvian and each day read some passages,

Yes thank God for emails. We see our daughter in person maybe every 5 to 8 years. We would hardly be in contact with her if it wasn't for the computer. Every so often we do talk on the phone- neither of us text.

So true, all of what you say. And nowadays, it's barely acceptable to visit without calling first.

I think calling first is a good idea, but not everyone does it. But then, not many people even visit anyway.
