This is a stain glassed window from Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas. It’s located in one of the bathhouses they preserved that used to serve the people who wanted to feel the medical benefits of the hot springs. My sister and her family like to throw in history whenever they get to travel, and this was one of the places on their way back from Alabama. I asked her about the segregated bathhouses, and was the one for whites grander than the other, and she said no. They actually explained around that time some minorities were gathering wealth of their own so while they were not treated equally, being able to pay gave a beautiful place for minorities to take in the hot springs too. (Sometimes I can’t believe how stupid people are.) This stained glass was smaller than the other pictures she took, but I LOVE it. It made me think of @sallypup as well since her interest in art runs along the same lines as mine. I appreciate Monet, absolutely, but other things draw my eye in too. Of course, stained glass is one of them. What is your favorite kind of art?

I don’t know that I have a “favorite” type of art. I look at each thing individually. I do loved stained glass windows. When you read what goes into making a stained glass window, especially the older ones, you can’t help but admire even the most plain ones!

Stained glass is very ornate and beautiful but I think my favorite are sculptures. I just admire the talent so much to make them.

I also love Monet, but I also like some sculptures, some are so beautiful that you wonder how someone could make a piece of marble look so real.

Stained glass is lovely, especially in churches. I love all kinds of art and I am presently working on art articles for Vocal Media.

Thanks for the mention. Your stained glass stopped me. Glorious piece. And historical. Oh my. I am not a fan of modern art with those unexplained splashes of who knows what but art that features botanical and whimsy nails me. Beatrix Potter is known for kid's art but she actually painted realistic renditions. She studied nature and knew what she was talking about.

Peter Rabbit was a favorite as a child, but she did so much more than “just” that. I always wanted to see the movie about her, but it would probably disappoint me as movies often do. Shame on me for being negative!

@AmbiePam Oh that movie. It's a keeper. And the romantic song. It's an ear wormer. The movie told me something that I hadn't known- Potter was a suffragette. And she donated thousands of acres to be kept as old time farming.

Well, before I really liked everything Victorian, but lately I've been leaning more towards minimalism. In fact, it calms me down, it gives me peace. When I sit in a minimalist place, it gives me that feeling. The feeling of pleasure of enjoying just one or two colors will suddenly be due to the changes of age where less is more.

I can definitely see why that would appeal to you. Isn’t it cool how people can look at the same thing, but feel so differently about it? The variety is exciting if one thinks about it.

It looks like the window glass in the old churches but it has a different shapes. I don't really into arts, but if I can see a nice one I like it.

This is really lovely. I don't know that I have a favourite type of art. I'm not keen on abstracts unless the colours are particularly nice - in my opinion, that is!

I just love stained glass too. It has always been something that I've known my entire life, in the church windows, in old homes of family members that we've visited in years gone by. My current favorite kind of art is done by a couple of sweet artists, better known as Harper and Willow. Our son has been texting us a couple of times a day with pictures of the girls enjoying their trip to Montreal, and of course he has mentioned that they miss and ask for Grandpa every single day. I hope that they can let go and enjoy the time as a family knowing that Grandpa will be at their home after vacation time is over. Willow is quick to tell you that she likes to go places 'as a family' and she means the 4 of them.
