Do You Have These in Your Area?

I love where I live. They have great organizations and group that help out seniors and those in need. I was just wondering if you have these kinds of things in your area. We have one that is called bountifulbaskets.org. It has you pick up produce and bread from different locals. It's good stuff. Then there is a new app I found out about recently. It's called Too Good To Go and you download the app, put in your zip and see what places are available in your area. You can sign up for what they call 'surprise bags' and pick them up at the end of the day. One fellow said he got two dozen Krispy Kreme's for $14 when normally he would have paid $40. Interesting to look and see what places might be available in your area. Places like bakeries, convenience stores, specialty restaurants, pizzerias, sushi bars, etc. I just thought it was interesting.

It's nice for those who produce a lot in their gardens too.

Hello friend, well here I live in a somewhat commercial or quite commercial area in which businesses help social causes in the community in particular. For example, they really like to help public schools and they make donations to bakeries, pizzerias, ice cream shops, supermarkets, etc., and they provide food and supplies so that the schools can They can carry out grape harvests to raise funds or to give a treat, for example for Mother's Day, to all the mothers in the community and so on.

@celticeagle Far from what some people may say, I believe that the world is revolutionizing and trying to change to help others.

I'd have to drive 70 miles at a minimum for Too Good To Go and bountifulbasket.org isn't available in my area.

I hope we had something like that in my city. In my residential area people are always on the look out to exploit each other.

@celticeagle Yes, it is a matter of concern as lot of old people are staying alone and need support physically.

Hubby used to pick up a box of produce and other goodies once a month. We have the senior centers. I don't know of any other organizations other than the Council on Aging.

The Bountiful Baskets sounds terrific. We have a pantry here called Dare to Care. I saw an episode of Bizarre Foods where people almost dumpster dove for food from restaurants to feed the hungry (basically standing next to the dumpster at the end of the day when the restaurants were throwing out their expired/unused things). I think it was somewhere in California, and the local government didn’t appreciate people helping the homeless (which I don’t for the life of me understand! [Well, I do, in a way: YOU help the homeless, and the government can’t tax you more to claim they are helping. ]).

It's nice when the fortunate help the less fortunate.

No, but its great idea. We partiicipated in The Gleaners program, a long time. That's a program where farmers and backyard fruit growers let people harvest fruit and vegies going to waste.

We have many food distribution places in this area. We also have 2 locations of Jon Bon Jovi's JBJ Soul Food Kitchen in town. I don't use them but I totally support them. It isn't cheap to live in New Jersey.
