Have any of you (my fellow MyLotters) had that surgery where they replace your cloudy lens with a glass one?
I am considering it, but the thought scares the cr-p out of me.
This morning, I have an appointment with the eye doctor.to discuss specifics of my possible surgery.
I know from teaching Perception (a partof Psychology) that natural lenses change their shape to enhance depth perception. Glass lenses do not. I am going to ask about that today..
Please wish me a glorious,information-filled visit to the eye doctor.
Haveyou ever had eye surgery?

You'll find out they don't put glass lenses in to replace the natural lenses. It's a type of plastic so somebody hitting you in the eye won't shatter it and destroy your eye.
I hope you find out lots more information that helps you make the decision without as much worrying.
My eye specialist said I'd need to have that surgery one of these days but not yet. And yes, somebody messing with my eyes scares me.

@TheHorse Are you getting lasik or cataract surgery? You would be awfully young for cataracts..My parents didn't get the surgery until their 80's.

Yes I've had cataract surgery. For me it was painful. Most people say it was not. For a couple of years I could see much better than before; but now my eyes are changing. So how did your appointment go?

They are special lenses, but are not glass. Bob, my husband, had cataract surgery last spring. It made him nervous, but he values being able to see and drive. He got both eyes done, one at a time. He was 79 years old at the time, and does not regret it one bit. You get special cards to carry in your wallet telling exactly what each lens is and the refraction, so if you ever are in an accident that hurts your eyes the medical people know what you need.

Yes, when it comes to the eye surgeries are rather scary to think about. I had cataract surgery about 2 years ago. it was much more pleasant than I had thought it would be. It just felt like the surgeon just kept washes my eye out with water. It felt good. I wonder if it will feel the same when I have the other eye done.
I wish you a glorious and well-informed time at the eye doctor. I hope you get some positive info, nothing too scary.

Hubby just recently had cataract surgery. They put a new lens in each eye. He has been very happy about getting it done.
