Car Alarms--Ghee!

We have a fellow somewhere around the two businesses just up from us on the street whose car alarm goes off daily. I don't know if it's just sensitive or if a squirrel jumps on it or what. But every day it goes off. That has been happening for literally years. We've gotten used to it. But more recently we have this new tenant in the apartment complex here whose car alarm goes off two or three times daily. Why we don't know, and he says he doesn't know how to fix it. (Take it to the shop I say but.....?!) Noisy it is. So, we have an alarm ridden neighborhood lately. When it was cooler out, we had the windows open every day and oh, how fun it was to hear one.......then a while later another would go off. About four times in all. When it first happened, my grandson checked into it and then told us about the tenant's situation. So, now the weather is hot again and we have the windows closed. Thank goodness! I wonder if he will figure out how to stop it or take it in or something.

The guy's manual for his car will tell him how to make it stop doing that. He can look it up online. I believe car manuals are free on the car manufacturer's website. He MIGHT have to provide the VIN number to see the manual for his vehicle. I accidentally set my car alarm off once. I meant to pop the trunk open and hit the alarm button by mistake on my key fob. If your grandson doesn't mind, he could go over and tell the other tenant where to find the car manual.

Haha Men never look at owner's manuals. Haha. I hope he figures it out at some point. I thought maybe an animal or kid got his key fob and was playing with it. I hope the guy thinks to look in the glove department for the manual. Or don't they have those anymore? That's where mine was.

@celticeagle I had to buy the paper owner's manual for my last car. They offer them free online but only as a readable online page. When my car does something odd, I ask Pretty to look it up in the manual while we're driving somewhere and then I fix it when we stop at our destination.

@celticeagle I have a lot of trouble reading black lettering on a white page. (myLot really hurts my eyes but I miss everyone here if I don't come here and talk every day... Pretty says I'm torturing myself. ) She reads the manual to me and then I fix whatever is happening. Once in a great while, I'll look up a YT video and listen to somebody else explain something if I don't understand.

We had a neighbour whose car alarm used to go off often, she told us that her toddler son used to like to press the buttons on it, and he usually did that before she was out of bed. Sometimes they will go off when the electrical cluster on the vehicle is starting to go.

I would hate that. And Rufus would bark his cuteness off.

I understand perfectly and it makes me laugh a lot because I must tell you I have been living right next to a school for years, in fact we share the same fence division Every morning I have to listen to the horn of all the transports that come to drop off the children and at 12 noon it is the same sometimes they come to get me at home and I do not go out because I think What are they? The horns being played by children and really when I see a horn being insistent I realize that that is my house and it makes me feel horribly ashamed to make people wait.

I can sure understand that. The garbage truck in our neighborhood has a back up alarm so when they are across the street at about 5a. or 6a. it goes off on a weekly basis.

DE is right about checking the paper manual or online. He can also call the dealership.

Sometimes people just live with the inconvenience without realizing how much it bothers those around them.

I don't for the most part but since we've had nice weather and all the windows have been open we are hearing things we aren't used to hearing.

Gee that must be so annoying. I'm surprised the guy himself isn't bothered by his own alarm going off all the time. Hope he can figure out how to stop it or actually take it somewhere to have it looked at.

Men never look at owner's manuals or anything. It's probably right in there.

I absolutely cannot stand that kind of thing. I would tell the owners that I turn into the Incredible Hulk if such noises last for more than ten minutes or so!

It's just been more pronounced because we've had all the windows open enjoying some lower temps lately.

I set our alarm off yesterday. I didn't realise Vince had locked it and I tried to open the door.

I have never had a car with that alarm thing on the fob. My last car was a 1991.
