With the rising costs of everything and a salary that I considered no longer enough to meet ends, I am thinking of looking for a part time job or perhaps to start a small business to augment my income though I don't have the capital yet. It's very challenging to live without that much resources to survive. Sigh!

In India , the scenario was same due to politicians.cost of living has been increased.Household savings has been falling down.Yesterday our Prime minister introduced GST Reforms I have discussed the same today.Ofcourse it might be his saviour. But I hope If those reforms remains unchanged or improve some more beneficial to the people We can afford the cost of living.something we can save upon.

True ..true
..corrupted ones and their families are enjoying lavish life style.I agree this. We have to only vote them for lifting them up and suppress our lives down.

The key to a good, sound financial life is to stop relying on a paycheck. Instead, spend less of what you earn, save and invest wisely, and let the dividends and interest be your main source of income. It takes a while to get there. But it's better than relying on a paycheck to make ends meet. Much better to let your money do that work for you.
In the meantime...a second or third job is probably in order. But it won't help you if you keep doing the same thing with your money. You're just kicking the can down the road.
When you save and invest and let your money work for you, it doesn't matter what outside influences try to drag you down, you are now operating within your own personal economy, and when that happens, the outside stuff that happens doesn't matter because you are in control.
Inflation goes up 4%, I just find ways for my money to make 4% more for me to make up the difference.

@ZedSmart I am always happy to help. Money can either be a crutch, or it can be a gift. But in order for it to be a gift, you must understand it and understand it's REAL value. Not just what shows up in the amount box on your check.
Had I not understood the value of money, I'd never have been able to retire at 50 and I'd still be chasing new dollars instead of living off old ones.
What I did was work first and earn as much as I could, put as much of what I earned to work for me, and finally one day looked at my money and said, "Your turn to do the work. I'm going fishing." lol

I agree. Recently, I realized an uncle is facing acute financial crisis. When age is not by his side (90) and the income has been eroded by inflation, haggling for small small amounts becomes a norm. There is also the fear of losing respect if they sell the home, as out here, people who have homes are respected. He threw his househelp out, because her pay he could not pay.

I think sometimes we need to let go some of the things we have in order to survive though a thorough evaluation of the situation must be done before the final decision. I feel sad also for the househelp as the person is also struggling but if it help us to at least feel lighter and better then we must...

I agree, it's very difficult to live without enough money, especially lately.
I hope you're doing okay and can start a business on the side for extra income. I've been wondering what happened to you.

I'm sorry to hear that the rising cost of everything is making you look for a part time job, etc. Hope you find one that pays enough to offset the rising costs.
