Has this happened to you. You buy something that you really like and go to buy it again. And they do not make it anymore. It is gone. And you are sad inside you never get to have that item again But oh what joy when they bring the item back years later. It says new and improved. You buy it thinking I am very happy again. And than you ate it and it was really bad. Not any good anymore. Has something like that ever happened to you?

Yes, it has happened with me. Can totally relate to that. We had a very popular local brand Morten chocolate candies in our childhood. And trust me I have never tasted any chocolate close to that, especially their ones with real coconut filling. Then they closed. Last year when I visited my native and found that in one local store. I was so happy but the taste despite being good was no close to the original. And the size shrieked noticeably.

Aw, how disappointing. I’ve never had that happen with a food item, but perfume. I got compliments all the time, and then one day the perfume was gone. Years later, it came back, and it smelled so bad.

Oh, yes, that happens every once in a while. I don't know why they feel they have to change the recipe on delicious things so they aren't delicious anymore. I guess they're trying to make more money from it and it ruins it for everyone.

There's this cologne before that I really want... And when I finished the bottle, I went back to buy another but they don't sell it anymore... I think it was already discontinued.. I don't know if it took me so long to finish one bottle because I also have other colognes and perfumes...

This happens so often to me, but it mostly seems to be foods/groceries. I will find a product I really like, and then no one has it anymore, or they can't get it. But we do have some empty shelves now at many stores, so I am not surprised.

@jstory07 It sort of goes in surges here. I have noticed that many items that have a generic equivalent, or several brand names of the same thing, that the cheapest brand is always gone first. of course, then the next cheapest, and so forth. The big name brands just sit there most of the time, because who in the world wants to buy the one that costs twice as much as the cheapest one? Not me.

Oh, I totally get that feeling! It’s like this little piece of joy is ripped away from you, and then there’s a glimmer of hope when it comes back, only to be let down in the end. I’ve had a few experiences like that. One that comes to mind is when a certain snack I loved as a kid was discontinued. I was so upset, and it stuck with me for years. Then, one day, I saw it in stores again, and it had that "new and improved" label on it. I was so excited, thinking it would taste just like I remembered.

I was upset when a popular digestion chewable tablet disappeared, and I had to look for a new one, and it never did come back, and I never did find anything as good as it either.

at the crummy little supermarket across the road you'll buy something, like it, go back...'finished' and they don't order more.

I'm sure it's happened to me, though what really bugs me (a similar thing) is when a show comes on that I really like, and then they cancel it!

Yes, this has happened many times over the years. Sometimes you buy something regularly then can’t find it and when you ask they say “ there is no call for it “ ……i always want to shout ….” Well, I am calling for it “. Other times like you say they bring a favourite back and say ‘new’ and ‘improved’…….it isn’t new and rarely improved ! It makes me cross .

It's a letdown when a favourite item is discontinued, and the excitement of it returning can quickly turn to disappointment if it doesn't live up to our memories.
