Mashed Potatoes and Gravy

United States

I love potatoes but mashed potatoes and gravy would be #1 on my list. Yesterday I was watching QVC while I was having my lunch and they were selling high end candles and the one they were offering was "mashed potatoes and gravy". It immediately caught my attention as I wondered how it would smell. I didn't think mashed potatoes and gravy had a distinctive smell. The other candle scents they were offering were Hot Cider Donuts, Crisp Apple and of course Pumpkin something or other. I have more than enough candles so I didn't buy any but I have to give it to the marketing team for the names they come up with. Would you be enticed with a mashed potatoes and gravy scented candle?

I like mashed potatoes but would not want a candle that made me hungry. (Most of those candles DON'T smell like the food they're named for... and most smell nasty! I do like Black Cherry candles. Those don't smell like black cherries but they do smell nice. I used to burn those in my bedroom. (We haven't been anywhere that sells them in years now.) I also like a few of the flower scented candles but it's been too long for me to remember which ones I liked. (Pretty and I would walk down the candle aisle in a store and sniff candles... She'd find nice smelling ones and then would hand me one and tell me to smell this one! I'd sniff it and almost throw up! She's a MEAN daughter!!!

I do agree that most food scented candles don't actually smell like food but I do have three that I absolutely love. One is coffee scented, one is a cookie scent which actually smells like baking cookies and the other is French baguette Usually I find flower scents too strong and have to be careful what I burn as my daughter is highly sensitive to a lot of flowery fragrances. I'm sure Pretty got a good laugh at having you smell candles that make you want to barf

@Marilynda1225 We found one candle in Silver Dollar City years ago that smelled exactly like baking bread... I was afraid I'd start making homemade bread again if we bought it so left it for somebody else. Some flowers are too strong in the house but I still loved smelling them. We're both allergic to actually flowers now. That makes it rough when we're somewhere and all you can smell is flowers. *sigh* She'd giggle and giggle at me.

@DaddyEvil my French baguette smells like baking bread and it just makes the house smell delicious. Many years ago I had a candle that smelled like brownies baking and I loved it. One day I had it burning and my son came home from work and was so excited I had made brownies. Boy was he disappointed it was only a candle

I need to fix my craving ....... the kritters are doing great. They don't play as much as the used to though, Roscoe is 4 1/2 years old and Tuffy is 3 so I suppose naps are more common at those ages ..... boy can they nap.

Mashed potatoes smothered with butter is right up my alley. However, can't imagine a candle with that scent. How are Roscoe and Tuffy doing? Staying out of trouble?

Oh, goodness, what a fragrance! I can’t imagine ever buying it except for a gag gift, but even then I’m not spending a lot of money for a gag gift. I do, however, now want mashed potatoes and gravy!

I just can't imagine how it would smell. Even in my mind I can't think of the smell associated with mashed potatoes and gravy but I do love to eat them.

Mashed potatoes and gravy as a candle scent sounds so unusual! I can’t imagine how that would smell either. I think I’d stick with apple, but it’s definitely a fun idea.

I cannot imagine mashed potatoes (yum yum) having much of a scent either. That would be a candle that if I saw out shopping, I would have to sniff just to put my curiosity at ease.

I am always intrigued by the names of paint colours. There are some very creative ones there too.
