As the days shorten and temperatures are moderate I am seeing and hearing lots of critters. We have some cicadas this year, but they are nearly drowned out by the tree frogs. I am hearing more song birds. Everywhere in the yard there are festoons of spider webs with big fat spiders resting in them. Last night I had to hurry in to beat a preying mantis. She seemed to have wings. Of course as the season ends there are grasshoppers of all kinds. We have to keep our eyes out for them all.

Something has been chomping apples off our tree. And Moxe dog has been refusing to come into the house at bed time. She is too busy staring up into the apple tree- makes me wonder what is up there? We have tons of squirrels here but maybe even a raccoon??

When Pretty and I went shopping Friday, there was a huge grasshopper that kept trying to get in the car with me. It kept bonking it's head on the car door until Pretty asked me what I was doing. I told her I was watching the grasshopper trying to get in the car and missing the opening. She told me to stop being silly and get in so we could go. Preying mantises do have wings. They fly pretty well until they get huge. Cicadas are still loud here or else I've got tinnitus again... They both sound the same to me.
