Yes, I’m up early. Before I take off for Lexington I want to give you a song to dance to! Last month I had a great time with slower songs, inspired by a joke from @rebelann about how fast too many of these songs were. Well, this month, it’s back to dancing. I will be using several of the same acts that I used last month. As these are all hits, it’s hard to find a hard rocking Al Stewart tune, so some won’t be used. But these guys make both months.
Ain’t Too Proud to Beg - The Temptations
Yeah, this is what you think of when you think of the mighty Temptations.
Are you surprised that they did something slow enough to make last month’s list?
That’s one of the great things about 60s R&B: it was very diverse. You could be dancing your fool head off to one hit, then the next one would have you in a romantic or insightful mood.
So get up and enjoy one of the Temps’ greatest hits.
Ain’t Too Proud to Beg
Written by Norman Whitfield and Eddie Holland
Recorded by The Temptations
From Gettin’ Ready, 1966
Song used last month: “My Girl”
If pleading keeps you from walking out that door:

Even though The Temptations were before my time, I enjoyed their music.

That’s the greatest thing about music to me: while it’s a product of its time it’s also timeless.

I remember this song well. For some reason, my all time favorite of theirs was “My Girl.” But this one is really good, too.

The Temptations had smooth moves, great dancing. And yes, My Girl is timeless.

What a fantastic choice to kick off the month! "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" is pure energy. The contrast with "My Girl" really shows their incredible range. Have a safe and inspiring trip to Lexington!

“I never met a girl who makes me feel the way that you do”
The opening line to “Get Ready”, another great song from The Temptations, and I felt the need to say it
They were a brilliant group. Not as brilliant as The Four Tops, but close. Excellent start to the month of October. Hasn’t this year just flown by?
