1991 - Silence of the Lambs Strap yourself in. Silence of the Lambs is an excellent psychological horror thriller film directed by Jonathan Demme and adapted from a book of the same name by Thomas Harris. Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) is an FBI trainee who attempts to track down the serial killer Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine), by tapping the knowledge of Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), a psychiatrist and cannibalistic serial killer who is imprisoned in the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. Buffalo Bill's MO is to skin his victims. Silence of the Lambs was nominated for 7 Academy Awards and won 5, including Best Actor and Actress for Hopkins and Foster....well deserved I might add. This movie remains as the only horror film to ever win a Best Picture Oscar. This is, beyond a doubt, a must-see movie and an excellent addition to your Halloween list of films to view. It is so well done. Photo Credit: Pixabay

I've never read the book. I'd like to compare the two.

Great movie. Jodie Foster is excellent as “Clarice”, said in a Hannibal way, but Anthony Hopkins was brilliant as Hannibal. So very menacing. I love the movie, but I think the sequel, Hannibal, was even better.

I haven’t seen this one. Do they show gore, or just imply it?
