Hey, waddaya know, my predictable routine paid off. I ran into @LooeyVille and her hubby in Chuy’s!
And I promised them they’d know today’s song to dance to. You may not remember it but you’ll probably enjoy it, because it’s a classic. And here it is!
Oh, Boy! - The Crickets
Technically it was released under the moniker of The Crickets, but we all know it’s a Buddy Holly song. And it’s a darn good one, too!
Just think: this was Holly’s second-ever single. That’s the amazing part. The sad part, of course, is that he was gone less than 18 months after this song came out as a single.
The last member of the Crickets, Sonny Curtis, passed away last month, so the history book of that phenomenon is closed forever now. But thanks to the music, it’s always available.
Oh, Boy!
Written by Sonny West, Bill Tilghman, and Norman Petty
Recorded by The Crickets
From The “Chirping” Crickets, 1957
Song used last month: “Heartbeat”
Tonight there’ll be no hesitating:

She’d have to be, because everybody knows I’m here 4-5 days a week.

Good song. I remember this being covered in the UK by Mud, who made it to No.1 in our charts in the 70’s. Theirs was much slower version.

@FourWalls I don’t know the Alabama band, so no insult, no need for sorry.
Mud were usually up tempo, except when they weren’t, especially in the later hits. Tiger Feet was terrific.

Wow, they almost sound like the country band Alabama doing that. (Sorry for the insult.)
