1982 - Poltergeist
Poltergeist is a supernatural horror film directed by Tobe Hooper and adapted from a story by Steven Spielberg. The movie was nominated for 3 Academy Awards including Best Original Score, Best Sound Effects Editing and Best Visual Effects.
Normal suburban couple Steve (Craig T. Nelson) and Diane (Jobeth Williams) Freeling live with their children Dana, 16, (Dominique Dunn), Robbie, 8, (Oliver Robins) and Carol Anne, 5, (Heather O'Rourke" in Cuesta Verde, California.
Their home is invaded by vengeful ghosts that abduct their youngest daughter, Carol Anne.
One night Carol Anne is talking to the TV which is broadcasting static. The next night a white hand comes out of the screen and there is an earthquake. Carol Anne says, "They're heeeeere".
The next day crazy events take place...first seemingly innocent; but they soon turn sinister. A tree limb crashes through a window and grabs Robbie. While Steve and Diane are trying to rescue him, Carol Anne is pulled into her closet. All that is left of her is a voice calling out from the TV.
It is determined that there is a poltergeist invasion involving multiple ghosts and that the community was built on a former cemetery; and the graves were moved.
This is a good movie to add to your Halloween list of films to watch.

@LindaOHio I've seen it in recent years. First time I saw it was on TV and I was thinking how much scarier it would have been in the movies. I would have freaked out.
