I Have to Get to Work Soon

Normally my wife is here to help me with this sort of thing, but she's out of town for the weekend and I am on my own. But I bought a whole pork loin on Wednesday, and I have to get to cutting it up into a roast, some loin chops and country style ribs, wrap it in freezer paper, and freeze it. I got it on sale at just $1.49 per pound, which is a good deal and the sale goes until next Tuesday. I might just go and get another one. Nowadays you really have to take advantage of cost savings wherever you can.

It's all the time good to buy meat on sale. I am sure you will do a good job cutting this pork loin.

I am really looking for bargains now since pork steaks went from $1.94 per pound to $2.24 per pound, and I am out of ground beef and haven't bought since it's almost $5 a pound and I just won't pay that. I'm hunting for any bargain I can find, trust me.

That is a good price for the pork and it would probably be a good idea to buy another one. I do love pork tenderloin

Plus being able to able to get several cuts out of it, it broadens the "use." I really should get another one. This one was about 8 pounds.

I was about to ask why you got that big piece of meat if your wife is out of town. I guess freezing it is not a bad idea. I prefer fresh meat though, especially since we have no way of knowing if what we buy at the store has been previously frozen or not.

That's a really good price. Probably because you have to cut it up yourself.

That's mainly it. But it's a MASSIVE cost savings. I did a little break down in my response to @Looeyville if you want to peruse it. It's worth the work and we'll get a ton of meals out of it.

Good savings, but sounds like a lot of work cutting it.

The work is worth the cost savings, all day, twice on Sundays. The way I look at it is, what cuts can I get and what are the average prices of those cuts pre-butchered? If I buy country style ribs, I am looking at over $3 a pound. If I buy pork loin chops, they'd run me $4 or more a pound. A pork loin roast would be anywhere between $3 and $4 a pound. Basically, I will cut it into all three of those and then do 1 or 2 pounds diced for soups, casseroles or stir-fry. This was 8 pounds, so if I do 2 pounds of CS ribs, a 2 pound roast, 2 pounds diced, I should be able to cut the pork loin chops into 2 pounds and divide it into 8 chops 4 each to a package and be good. I paid about $12 for it, and imagine all the meals I will get out of this.

With today's astronomical prices, it definitely pays to shop around for the best deals. You got a darn good deal on the pork loin.

I'd be buying a second one too. As you say, you need to take advantage of whatever savings are offered.
