A newly approved medication that slows the progression of Alzheimer’s? Woo hoo! "Lecanemab, also marketed as leqembi in Canada, is administered intravenously over an hour every two weeks for the first 18 months... The treatment reverses the effects of amyloid proteins in the brain that form sticky clumps, called amyloid plaques, which impair neurological function."

That is absolutely wonderful! I am very glad to read that article. It’s very encouraging since it’s so hard to treat at all.

@BarBaraPrz - It works if patients start to take it at the very initial stage of the disease. It does not work for those who are already in a serious and advanced stage of Alzheimer's.

I hope they don't discover a bunch of bad side effects down the road.

It's just a delaying tactic to the final outcome...

That certainly is good news and how wonderful it would be if it could be the solution to such an awful disease.

Not exactly a cure, but a good start, I think.

That is great news. The fact that it is administered IV also means that it is not broken down by the digestion and caregivers do not have to worry if patients are compliant like they do with pills.

Yes, a cure would be good, but this seems to be a step in the right direction.
