Egg in the Middle

It was a "classic" breakfast that my grandmother used to make for me when I was a kid, and I do recall making it myself several times as an adult. Although, it's been a hot minute, as some might put it.
But it so happens that for the first time in a long time I have a ton of eggs in the house after finding some on sale at Ruler Foods at "Buy 2 Get 1 Free" at $2.33 a dozen, which brings the per dozen price to a cool $1.55 a dozen, which is not great, but by today's standards, also isn't bad.
I am talking about Egg in the Middle. A breakfast dish some people call by other names. But all you do is butter a piece of bread and then use a shot glass to make a hole in the middle, drop the slice of bread into a frying pan and crack an egg in the middle and fry it.
I think I will make this for dinner one night with some sausage links on the side. I don't know about you, but this sounds like good eats to me.
What say you?

In my country eggs are more expensive but white eggs are cheaper than brown eggs although scientists say the that both kinds of eggs are the same.

Yeah, I've never understood the idea of the white egg vs. the brown egg. Really, the only thing that separates them is the breed of chicken that lays them, but they taste the same and have the same nutritional values from everything I have ever read.

Where do you find such prices? Unless it’s for white eggs. Haven’t seen brown eggs at this price here.

@porwest Do you prefer to buy white eggs? Brown? Heirloom? Or whichever happen to be cheaper?

I am a hawk when it comes to prices, and I make it a point to save a penny everywhere and wherever I can, and never spend a penny more than I have to. I am patient, I am determined, I am vigilant, and I never compromise.
It might be part of the reason I have done well financially, but honestly....only a small part of it. But it definitely helps to know how and where to stretch every single dollar, and more importantly...every single penny.

If you smear guacamole on the bread around the egg once it's cooked, it reminds me of something a friend from Peru used to cook for me when she was staying with us years ago. She called it something but I can't remember off-hand what that was. It's really good! (Guacamole isn't something I'd usually eat but the way she made it I liked.)

I didn't buy them but yesterday one brand of eggs here were just over $10 a dozen. I know it's hopeless comparing prices but that's dear for us. I paid around $6.

Sounds like something Italians make a lot. I don't care for runny eggs; so this wouldn't be for me. I only like deviled eggs, scrambled or egg salad.
