Be careful what you click on.

I haven't ordered anything from Amazon lately. I wasn't even tempted to click on a text that I received several times the past few days, that said I was eligible for a refund as whatever it was I was supposed to have ordered, was recalled. I checked the facebook community board, and a lot of people fell for this scam. Two people that fell for it now have charges on their credit cards. I know a lot of users here order from Amazon. Just wanted to say something in case anyone else gets these texts. Don't click on them, just report and delete!

These scammers are getting weirder all of the time. Good advice and thank you. Another thing too is when people call and I make the mistake for some reason of answering the phone I never say 'yes' when they try to verify my name or other info. I have heard if you say 'yes' they could use that to affirm you are giving them authority to use your card or whatever. Have to be careful especially this time of year.

@MarieCoyle .......If I'm expecting a call, I will occasionally pick up the call by mistake.

@celticeagle I have accidently answered a spam call before, but I try hard to look at the number if a name of the caller is not on the phone.

That's good that you do that, George. This was a text, but of course emails can carry spam, too.

Generally if there are any refund or anything, usually it is too good to be true to be honest.

Yes, often the things you hear about were too good to be true, but someone fell for it anyway!

Luckily, I stopped buying from Amazon. The last time I ordered from them was in 2019

I haven’t ordered anything from them in some time now. My daughter recently bought me some coffee from Amazon but that’s all.

I had no doubt it was a scam, but then again some people may not know.

There are many on the prowl to catch the unwary. I read about someone getting delivered a parcel. She said she did not expect any and was told to reveal an OTP from the company to reject it. Soon the crooks had access to her bank account!

I recently received an email from the company that does my 403(b) which is a public employee version of a 401(k). It said that I needed to electronically sign something. I haven't made any changes recently to it so I have no clue why they need a signature. I finally decided to open it looks legit. To access the document it said I need to do 2-factor authentication. I was like "send a voicemail". The problem was that the phone number listed was for the land line at the house. I texted my ex and asked him if he had received an email or voicemail from the company for me. He checked and said no. So I need to get off of my butt and actually make a call to them. That can wait until tomorrow though. I have no clue what they would need a signature for.

I looked it up as many family and friends use Amazon. Definitely a scam, and I know some mylotters use Amazon so they may get the text, too.

I would imagine that wasa phishing email so the scammer has to do a few more things to get your money

@thedevilinme No matter who the scammer is, it's not acceptable. Everyone just needs to operate on the ''when in doubt, don't!'' method.
