Looking forward to tomorrow.

But oh, today was a whopper sad day. I woke up to a phone call. A very close friend lost her son. He was 46 years old, had some health issues but this hit like a ton of bricks--he has fought his way through them before, and always landed on his feet. Not this time...I've known him since he was born. A sweet soul who would do anything for anyone, and very much loved. Three years ago, this same friend lost her daughter to an unknown infection. Now both of her children are gone...I hurt so much for her, it's hard to even think of one of those losses, but both...just so sad for everyone, but especially his mom and dad, and other family members. I processed that and took my son to his appointment. A stormy, dark day, stressful, finally got home...and yes, the phone rang. My sister had 2 very close friends--and one of them passed away this morning. She was my friend, too. She had aggressive breast cancer, but from what I have discovered, no one knew this except her husband and her siblings. No chances for a goodbye on this one, either. These people were in my life for so long, they are like family. I am far from being the one who most needs sympathy in these two losses, but I do hurt for their loss, and for their families. I hated to tell my kids, as they loved these friends, too. I realize everyone dies at some point, it was just hard to take it all in, in one day.

@MarieCoyle Yes, it is very sad. I'm so sorry for your loss. It is unimaginable to think of losing a child (of any age) and twice is just too much.

I especially hurt for my friend who lost her only living child. How could a mother even begin to recover from that? She is a strong woman with strong faith, but still...the loss of your children is the hardest thing to go through for a mother. Thanks, Judy

@MarieCoyle No-one ever expects to outlive their children yet many do. There are a number here who have lost a child. It must be devastating.

@JudyEv I buried my firstborn. It was extremely painful. I was fortunate that I had other children and also adopted one. I know many here have lost a child, too.

@MarieCoyle She was already planning on leaving him. He went to jail for a few years. Not enough to me for killing the kids.

Yes, I thought of you while writing this post...and myself, and several others here. It truly is the worst. No matter their age, or our own age, they are still our children. I don't think I could handle losing all of my children, either. Thank you so much, Eva.

@wolfgirl569 Oh, how terrible. It would also be hard to forgive the husband...what a terrible thing to happen.

I outlived my first child. It's so, so hard--and she lost both of hers! I can't even imagine the pain. And my sister's wonderful friend, I picture them spending time together, drinking coffee and laughing...hopefully, they are catching up on that now. Thank you, Marilyn,

The worst pain ever...it would be easier to cut off an arm or a leg. But to lose both children...the pain has to be really deep and terrible.
