Stop it, autocorrect! I know the difference in stop and tsop. Yes, today’s song title presents a challenge, but I’ll make it through it. I mean, you’ve made it through this countdown thus far! Get up and boogie! TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia) - MFSB and The Three Degrees I’m sure Samuel L. Jackson would have a different take on MFSB, but it stands for “Mothers, Fathers, Sisters & Brothers.” And “TSOP” means “The Sound of Philadelphia.” The Three Degrees are the group who had the hit with “When Will I See You Again,” and that’s them doing the “doo-doo-doodle-da-doo” near the end. Most people of a certain age recognize this song as the theme to Soul Train. Sorry, Jim (he’ll be mad yet again that a song used as a TV theme is on the list ). This was the first song that had been used as the theme to a TV series to reach #1 on the Billboard chart. “Whites got their Soul Train,” as David Bowie sarcastically sang in “Young Americans.” Thankfully, we all had this great tune. TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia) Written by Kenny Gamble and Leon Huff Recorded by MFSB and The Three Degrees From Love Is the Message, 1973 Doo-doo-doodle-de-DOO!!!!!

Most people don't know it by the name, maybe just as "the theme from Soul Train." Great tune.

Ah, the 70’s. My twin cousins watched Soul Train every week. They loved the music, I remember this one!

And they had the better theme song. Barry Manilow wrote the theme to American Bandstand.
