I Think Joy Needs to GO

I used to watch this show on cable called "The View". It was started by Barbara Walters about 10 years ago, I think. They interview stars and people in the news. There are 4-5 prominent women in the business of journalism who are on the panel of interviewers. They used to have some pretty cute stuff and interesting interviews so I did watch it from time to time. But, I haven't for several years. Recently I have seen on YouTube where one of the journalists has really gotten nasty with some celebrities they have on the show. Her name is Joy Behar and she is probably 50ish and has been in journalism for years. She has interviewed presidents and many high profile people. I thought she was okay but definitely a real favorite. Last night it was Nicole Kidman who was the guest. She was on talking about a psychological thriller she is in that is going to come out soon. She has always carried herself with dignity and grace. A very strong women who fights for women's rights and the underprivileged. Joy just bit into her and was very nasty and aggressive asking her not about the movie, but about some past occurrences that had little to do with anything. Just petty stuff. Instead of letting it lie when Nicole said she was there to talk about the film Joy hit her with a personality assassination that didn't even make sense. Nicole was very professional and patient. Joy even admitted at one point that she just didn't like Nicole. She was vindictive, dishonest, getting on her about power and privilege. Off stage they were trying to figure out what to do, they signaled to Joy to stop. But, instead she got worse, even when Whoopi tried to change the subject. This woman is unbelievable. She's done this before too. To Rosie O'Donnel, a governor named Chris Christie. And Sam Elliott when he was on. She goes for the juggler and talks about their celebrity and personal stuff. Sam and Nicole both were treated horribly, and Joy was hostile with them and very unprofessional like she was on a personal vendetta against these celebrities. Hostile, bitter, just ugly. I think she should be fired. She has shown she has no place there and isn't able to just do her job. She takes it to a personal level which isn't professional and none of these people being interviewed deserves this kind of treatment. Did you ever watch "The View"? Did you like Joy?

Don’t get me started on Joy Behar. I could go on and on about such a nasty woman.

I don't watch The View--not for political reasons but because it is on when I am at work. I mean I have seen clips here and there. I don't have any big issue with Joy Behar but again I haven't seen most of what she's said on the show. She did quit or was fired at one point for a couple of years before she rejoined the show. Again I don't know the back story on that.

I think after this last situation they should fire her. She may have a contract with them though.

I do not care for it and it seems it often is just a bunch of "mean girls."

I agree and that is one reason I quit tuning in even where there was someone on it I would have liked to see.

Sometimes the producers want someone like this as they think it lifts the ratings. I wouldn't be watching it. I don't like such vindictive people.

I can definitely see the upside of having ones with different personalities and ways of approaching an interview on a show like this one, but this woman has gone too far in my opinion.

I used to catch it once in a while if someone I liked was going to be on. This Joy person is really an odd individual and seems to have forgotten what a real interview is all about. She needs to retire.

Years ago, I tried to watch it. Too many insults and too much drama and screaming. Joy is in her 80’s. She obviously has a great plastic surgeon!

Yes definitely. I'm not sure why it's still on. I wasn't sure of her age. She looks older just not quite 80-ish I guess.

@celticeagle I find it amazing what plastic surgery and money can accomplish, but I often think it changes people’s looks drastically.

I have never watched "The View", no matter how much my friend Juanita says I should. I'm just not interested in hearing what those women have to say about things that don't matter to me. I don't even know who they all are, other than Whoopsi, and I don't particularly like her (or her hair).

I can certainly understand. I got to feeling the same. I was just watching it when someone I liked was on but it became too much of a big drama and I quit.

Never saw the show, In fact I have watched reruns of some talk show on YouTube and find that they actually bore me, The best thing I like was shows of Johnny Carson reacting with animals,
