I'm Being Lazy, Not

We’re not built to be productive every second of the day. Rest isn’t a sign that something is wrong; it’s something everyone needs.
What others call “laziness” often just means I’m giving my mind and body a break, and that break is part of staying healthy, not the opposite of it.
I’ve also noticed that when I’m doing “nothing,” my brain doesn’t actually shut off. That’s usually when ideas show up out of nowhere or problems finally make sense. Letting myself slow down gives me space to think creatively and actually enjoy my thoughts instead of rushing through everything.
If I can’t motivate myself to do something, it might mean the task isn’t important, I’m overwhelmed, or I need to rethink my priorities.
Being lazy is okay. Sometimes it’s exactly what I need, and I don’t have to feel guilty about that. But, I still struggle with the guilty feelings, especially if I see someone else working hard.
Normally, I would and race to do things since I don't want the label of being lazy, only later to have a lot of burnout and in a lot of pain.
I'm learning reactions to those that make comments like, "wish I could be lazy", "you can't burn calories just sitting around" and other rude remarks. Silence is my best one and I'm saving my efforts for what matters, is my next.
Today, I sat a lot. Not usual for me but you know, it actually has felt pretty good.
How is your Sunday?
This photo is the younger twin from last summer's birth. She was watching as I was walking in the trees of the property.

There are times when we just need to sit back and take a break. It's not being lazy. It's being kind to yourself.
I love the photo.

Oh, do I ever struggle with taking time just for me. The ex would call me lazy if I tried it, and I KNOW I wasn’t lazy. He could take the time for fun, but I was supposed to keep on plugging, and it didn’t fly well with me.
We all need some time to just regroup our thoughts and rest and relax. I try very hard to work that in now, and it helps me so much.

I’m sorry if you have to deal with people saying you are lazy. You have some great valid points! I tend to have a hard time sitting still and doing nothing but you saying how even when you sit still you are thinking and how beneficial that can be is so true!

What people say isn't important. How you feel is what is important. I just ignore rude people or tell them to mind their own business since I'm perfectly capable of minding my own.
Pretty is online looking at Cyber-Monday deals and keeps coming into my room to ask me about things she's found that she thinks we need. I've been telling her to buy what she wants... I only asked for a new deep skillet and a new pot. (I'd really prefer to go look at them in-store instead of buying what "might" work, but telling her that will just lead to an argument. *shrug* I know they're cheaper online but... I have several pans on a shelf in the laundry room because they weren't what I actually wanted but I got them "on sale".)

What you say is all very true. We need 'quiet time' to come up with solutions sometimes too.
