What a rough afternoon (not)

My substituting right now is in the lower grade levels.
And it is the holidays.
So there is a lot of out of the ordinary things going on. At Veteran's Day we made a huge paper chain flag. Thanksgiving we made pumpkin pie in a cup, and at Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.
On to Christmas.
Today in first grade the kids were finishing off their crafts for the annual Christmas Market. Teachers give them ideas and supplies and they make posters advertising their wares. I think people mostly shop with play money. Not sure. Teachers from around the school shop from them.
In second grade they were finishing an assignment "If I were an Elf" coloring an Elf head and legs to frame a one or two sentence story about being an elf. AND they colored paper stockings that the teacher stapled into "pockets" to hang to get things in. The teacher then gave each person the name of someone else in class to write "something nice" to.
So much hard work for me, NOT.
I cannot believe they pay me to do this.

They really get some learning in as well, in a sneaky way.

Usually, kids are fun but, you can get one once in a while who is a pain... I'm glad you're enjoying yourself. 1 person likes this

At this age they have a lot to learn about following directions, etc.

@GardenGerty At any age people in general don't follow directions well.

It is fun. There are serious parts, but they are imbedded so that kids do not even know that they are learning.

I am always amazed to hear of the imaginations of both the teachers and the kids.
It's great to get paid for something you enjoy doing.

@GardenGerty .......I enjoyed seeing the kids when they have learned something new. It's so fun to see that recognition come over them.

I have to help some with the cutting or squeezing the glue bottle hard enough. It is a good time, though.
