It's beginning to look like Christmas

In the photo, you can see one of our retirement village residents helping at the cocktail bar at our recent Christmas dinner. The cocktails were not particularly fancy but there was a choice, and plenty of non-alcoholic offerings as well. Most people had more than one and it was all included in the price of the dinner. Our waiter is wearing a hat. At first, I couldn’t work out what it was but it’s a dressed turkey. I guess it came from Temu too. All in all, it was a fun night.

I recognized the "hat" as soon as I saw it. I'm glad everyone had a great night!

I seem to be a bit slow on the uptake lately. I had trouble working out what it was supposed to represent. It's very obvious once you know but I didn't get it at first.

@JudyEv No, you aren't. There wasn't any reason you should know that people in the US are kind of crazy and think things like that are funny. Temu just caught on first.

@JudyEv There’s a party happening this weekend for all the residents of our condo, but I’d rather skip it and just hang out in my unit.

He seems to do his job very professionally. I have seen the Turkey hat on Amazon for around 7 Euro.

That's not really expensive. I'd hate to have to make such a hat.

Vince always takes his camera and takes a lot of photos. He puts them up on the village FB site for people to see.

So true. Better suited to Thanksgiving perhaps than Christmas.

Are the hats sold freely or are there special rules that we have to eat somewhere?

The dinner is organised by the social committee. People bought their own hats.

This man seems to enjoy helping at the cocktail bar. He had to choose a bottle or something for a barman more than a turkey. This hat in the photo is sold by Amazon here. This is a good hat for a "barman".

@JudyEv - I am sure that I typed a comment, the comment box disappeared, this is surely why I typed a comment again. Another glitch.

@LadyDuck Anyone comment I make seems to be repeated a bit lower. Just another glitch I guess but that's different to a comment disappearing.

I thought it was some kind of crown. When you said it was a turkey, I took a closer look. Funny! Interesting! I'm glad it was a fun night.

That man is really lovely. He has had a huge skin cancer taken off the side of his face and now his wife is in care but he still participates and helps out wherever he can.
