My phone updated overnight

I woke up before the alarm this morning and looked at my phone to see what time it was. I freaked out when I saw the screen was not my usual wallpaper with the time but instead the "bonjour/allo/etc" screen that you see when you get a new iPhone and before you set it up. I thought that it had reset itself and I had lost everything. I scrolled up to see what would appear when I did that and PHEW it was normal.
Well not totally normal because there had been an operating system update overnight. That was weird to me because for all of these years you've had to have the phone plugged in and charging and you've had to manually start the update. I've never seen anything like this before.
There have been some minor changes that I have noticed. I will have to read up to see if anything major has changed. I doubt it or I probably would have seen some kind of news about it by now.
Interestingly, in a show of solidarity with the iPhone, my laptop updated itself today while I was at work.

Beware eventually the iPhone and the laptop will take over.

I don't like it when they send out automatic updates. Motorola always resets my background to something bright and flashy. My chosen background is just a black screen that doesn't hurt my eyes. (I have to double-tap my screen to see the time/date/weather.)
It's funny that your laptop also updated.

Microsoft is refunding me $50 thanks to some government watchdog saying we weren't given enough information - or any options - about a payment increase. So that's nice.
