Well this is a first at work

. . . at least that I have experienced. I was on bathroom duty this afternoon as usual. A paraprofessional brought a student with Down syndrome and explained to him that he had to show me his ID to scan and then leave it on the desk. He did that and then went in to do his business. 2 other boys came, I scanned them in, and they walked into the bathroom. . . and immediately turned and walked back out. One of them is a former student and we have a really good relationship to the point where he drops the F-bomb when he is talking to me way more often than he should. (yes I tell him to stop every time) I looked at him all confused. I don't even remember exactly what he said but, well, let's just say that the special education student was at the urinal, pants down around his ankles, and he was um "enjoying" himself. A couple of other boys just walked in without being scanned because the group of us were shocked and trying to figure out what to do so they got to see that sight too. At that point I stopped letting boys in there. The para called for him to get out of there but he, well, had things to finish if you catch my drift. When he finally came out the para took him to the Teacher of the Deaf and had a serious conversation with him. Then they brought him back to me to apologize. The para then asked me what they should do then and I was like "I have no idea! I've never had this experience!" I suggested that she take him to the Learning Disability case manager and then to the assistant principal who deals with HIBs. (harassment, intimidation, and bullying) Of course the boys who saw what had happened told a bunch of other kids so it is all over the school by now. I would like to think that the students will leave him alone but it is important for the principal to be able to keep an eye on things. So I thought that it was all over when my friend/coworker's son came out of the bathroom and announced that there was, um, DNA evidence in the urinal. So then I had to call for a custodian who definitely does not make enough money to have to deal with THAT. Yeah. So that was a first and hopefully last in my career.

Someone surely had told him not to do this before. I’m sorry you had to deal with that.

Yes hope you don't have to deal with it again. Shocking.

I hope the kid is told that certain things are "private."

I think you took all the right steps to follow up. See why I prefer not to work high school?

Not a good thing when its a student who does not always know from right to wrong. I hope someone can get through to him.

same happened when I was in high school. We all knew about it by the end of the day. Most girls found it disgusting. All the guys laughed about it and when any of us saw him in the restroom , we'd just tell him to behave and he'd just say okay and have a laugh. I think he got scared when a girl told him to be careful, his hand may get pregnant,
