The Vet Sent Flowers

There was a knock at the door a few minutes ago. We weren't expecting anyone. It was a flower delivery sent from the vet hospital where Mittens was taken last night. What a nice gesture. Josh has made a memorial downstairs, and this will be added to it. The vet hospital also gave him a small plaque with Mitten's paw prints in it and a tiny bottle with a tuft of Mitten's fur enclosed. This vet is so nice. It is the same one where my grandmother used to bring our animals back when I was a child. We will be picking up Mitten's ashes January 3rd.

It is very sad but Josh is really upset. He had Mittens in his room and was taking care of him every day. He would offer his water and food each day and was so good with him. Now he blames himself for not doing more.

We haven't even been to him before. I do remember my grandmother used to take our animals there. I had forgotten.

What wonderful gestures. I like the paw prints and tuft of hair. All we ever got from our vet was a card. I am so sorry about Mittens.

You have a wonderful Vet. I hope some of the rituals in such a heavy loss will soothe Josh a little. Saying goodbye is the hardest thing to do. Hugs.

I thought so too. Nowadays I don't see such gestures much so it was a very pleasant surprise. Who doesn't like to get flowers? Right?
