I enjoy cinnamon in cooking quite a bit. In reading this article I was surprised to find many medicinal elements to cinnamon that I wasn't aware of. Here are a few: * Studies show that by eating cinnamon every day for 3 months can bring your systolic blood pressure (the top number) down by 5 points. * It has also show to stop the protein build up in the brain that causes Alzheimer's. This was a study done on the memory of rats and has to be carried over to humans. * Cinnamon was found to be a top inflammation-fighter in a recent labratory study of 115 foods. * A oil in cinnamon called cinnamaldehyde is known to target fat cells and make them burn more energy. * In cells grown in labs cinnamon has shown promise in its ability to slow cancer growth.

@BarBaraPrz — exactly! Except I don’t like rum or eggnog…but the sentiment is identical.

That's interesting but I wouldn't know how to eat cinnamon - or at least enough to have any benefit. I need to research it some more

As everything, it's good in moderation. Consuming large quantities of cinnamon is toxic due to its high coumarin content. This leads to liver damage and other health issues.

This is very informative. However cinnamon isn't very common here. I don't know where to buy it. Anyway what i used to drink everyday is cocoa. It's good for health.

Yes, that is true. I hope you can find it to use. Have you tried looking for it in different forms. The stick or oil might be a way to check too.

We should be careful in the amount, and not overdo it, though. Too much cinnamon, I have have heard can be bad for the liver. I usually sprinkle some on my muesli in the morning, as it goes well with the banana I add too. There are different types of cinnamon too; one type is much better for you than the other. Ceylon cinnamon, known as true cinnamon, is the healthiest type.

I have to find out how to add cinnamon to my diet. I recall liking cinnamon biscuits. It was readily available here.

When my sister had diabetes (she no longer has it), her doctor told her to take cinnamon capsules every morning and night. Unless, of course, you are already taking something that interferes badly with cinnamon. One Mylotter was telling me she couldn’t have cinnamon of any kind because of how it interacts negatively with one of her medications. I think it was actually a pain medication she mentioned.
